Striker agrees 3-year, £130,000-a-week deal with Arsenal – Reports

By on July 21, 2015

According to the Daily Star, Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has committed his future to the club after signing a new three-year contract worth £130,000-a-week.

Giroud joined from Montpellier in 2012 and only signed a two-year extension worth around £80,000-a-week back in September 2014, as reported by the Independent.

However, the Daily Star are citing reports coming out of Italy that claim the 28-year-old has been handed a fresh deal with Giroud supposedly penning a new three-year contract worth £130,000-a-week.

If true, it will make the Frenchman one of Arsenal’s highest earners and I personally don’t think he deserves to be taking home that kind of money.

Don’t get me wrong, Giroud is a decent striker and he contributes greatly to our team. 41 goals in 97 games is a solid return, but one of our highest earning players? I don’t think so.

Nothing official has come out from the club yet so we’ll have to wait and see if these rumours turn out to be true, but I’d be disappointed if we’ve rewarded Giroud with another bumper deal as he’s not worth over £100,000-a-week in my opinion.

We should be saving that money to go towards a world class striker who’ll turn us into genuine title challengers.

if walcott and poldi are worth 100K then giroud is at least worth that much atm. if we get another striker and we are not as reliant on him then maybe not

What does it really matter? All the EPL clubs have been given a 25% pay rise by the new TV deal, so it’s obvious so will the players. The supporters are being rewarded with frozen or discounted season tickets, plus arsenal away supporters are being given money back for attending away matches…… Still some people will find a cause to whinge. Get over it or give up supporting football. It’s not compulsory u know

Giroud is not worth 130000 pounds a week. His value is much, much less.Get a proven goal scorer otherwise we stand no chance of winning any other silverware than the FA Cup

How can anyone think Giroud is worth £130k a week. He hasn’t scored 20+ league goals in any of his last 3 seasons. For that sort of money you have to show some proven quality. Benzema is only earning £90k a week. No big clubs have been linked to Giroud. None. Contrast that to Theo who Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City are chasing. Arsenal don’t have their priorities straight. They should have been concentrating on Theo and then getting a proven quality player to backup up/compliment him. Giroud doesn’t suit Alexis or Ozil!

I believe he deserves 130k per week cos if we look at the huge money been paid to other players of lesser qualities then its justifed.sterling earning 180k,walcott that plays like 10matches per season gets almost 100k etc.I will need you guys to check the real money some useless players earn and you will appreciate giroud more.

Giroud is a top Gooner! 41 goals in 97 games and 2 major trophies in 3 years. He can only get better. Worth every penny. A word class Striker to complement him is needed though.
