Arsenal Make Offer For Highly-Rated Spanish Midfielder – Reports
According to the Metro, Arsenal have made a significant offer to sign highly-rated Spanish midfielder Oriol Busquets but face a tough time luring him away from the Nou Camp.
Busquets – no relation to Sergio Busquets – has come through the much-famed La Masia Youth Academy and is being touted as one of the brightest young talents in Spanish football.
His future has been in serious doubt over the past few months as he’s mulled over whether to commit his future to Barca or move on to another club where he’s likely to break into the first team quicker.
It seems his potential has caught the eye of Arsene Wenger as the Metro are citing reports coming from Spanish outlet Sport who claim that we’ve made a ‘significant’ financial offer for the 16-year-old.
However, it looks like we could miss out on his signature as the publication says that Busquets has agreed a three-year deal to remain with Barcelona and the Spanish giants are unlikely to want to do business for one of their hottest young talents.
If we were able to prise him away from the Nou Camp, the box-to-box midfielder would follow in the footsteps of Cesc Fabrgeas, Hector Bellerin and Jon Toral in leaving Barca for Arsenal at a young age.
But it sounds unlikely that we’ll be able to pull off the trick for a fourth time with Busquets expected to stay with Luis Enrique’s side for the foreseeable future – which will be a shame as it’s always fun to steal ‘wonderkids’ from Barca, turn them into top class players then sell them our deadwood at huge mark-ups!
