Arsenal Open Talks Over Deal For La Liga Attacker – Reports
According to a report in the Telegraph, Arsenal have opened talks over a potential deal to sign Barcelona attacker Pedro Rodriguez this summer.
Pedro has long been linked with a move to North London and despite signing a new contract in June, the 27-year-old has continued to be tipped for a move away from the Nou Camp.
That deal saw his buy-out clause increase to over £100m but it looks like the contract was only agreed to strengthen Barca’s bargaining position in any potential negotiations this summer.
The Spanish attacker struggled for first team action once again last season with the likes of Neymar, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi all keeping him out the starting eleven.
The media continue to suggest he’s considering his future at Barca as he’s concerned about his lack of playing time ahead of next summers European Championships, and it looks like we’re keen on luring him to England.
The Telegraph cite reports coming out of Spain that claim Arsenal have now made contact with Pedro’s representatives to discuss a move to North London, while the Mirror also suggest we’ve held talks with Barca officials.
Liverpool and Manchester City are also believed to be showing a keen interest but it’s understood we’re in pole position to seal a deal if the Spaniard decides to come to the Premier League.
With so much speculation around these days it’s almost impossible to know what’s true, but I hope there is some truth behind these reports as I’d love to see Pedro come to Arsenal.
We could do with another threat in the final third if we’re to be genuine title challengers next season and Pedro is capable of playing anywhere across the front three, so would give the boss plenty of options.
We’ll have to wait and see if anything comes of this but fingers crossed as Pedro would be a great signing this summer.
