Arsenal Want ‘New Wilshere’, Youngster Has Visited Training Ground
According to reports, Arsenal are battling it out with Chelsea and Tottenham over the signature of exciting youngster Charlie Patino – dubbed the ‘New Jack Wilshere’.
Patino is just 11-years-old but he’s already making a name for himself at Luton Town’s academy, with a number of scouts making regular trips to watch him in action.
The Mirror claim that Arsenal are among the clubs to have registered their interest in taking the young starlet on board, but will face competition from Chelsea and Tottenham.
The newspaper suggests that Patino will cost £10,000 and his family have already taken tours of our training facilities and spoken with club officials about how they will develop the young midfielder.
Patino is set to make a decision over which club to join this summer but his dad, Julio, insists they want to give their son the best chance of forging a career as a professional footballer.
‘We just want what’s best for Charlie, to give him the best chance of being a professional footballer if that is what he wants to do,’
‘He is a dedicated boy, he works hard at school, gets good grades and is committed to playing football. He just loves it.’
‘Charlie is only 11 but he gets it and he knows what is happening to him,’
‘He knows that this is a big opportunity to train with a top club, even though there are no guarantees at the end of it.’
Patino is a skillful midfielder who has been likened to Jack Wilshere, with our No.10 also part of Luton’s youth system before we snapped him up, and he’s already playing with players two years older than him.
He certainly sounds like an exciting young talent and while Chelsea and Spurs will be stiff competition, we may have the edge as he grew up in St Albans and his family live in London Colney.
