Embarrassing! Arsenal Seek Help From Barcelona To Diagnose Injury

By on January 31, 2015

Arsenal were forced to seek help from Barcelona doctors to treat and diagnose David Ospina’s recent thigh injury as our medical staff couldn’t find the problem.

Ospina joined the club from Nice in the summer but spent much of his early days on the sidelines with a niggling thigh injury that he suffered at the World Cup.

The injury was only initially thought to be relatively minor but the goalkeeper ended up spending over three months out, and now it’s come to light why….

According to reports, Arsenal’s medical staff were unable to find the root of the injury so we were forced to accept help from Barcelona’s club doctor, Dr. Pruna.

He immediately diagnosed the problem and helped bring Ospina back to full fitness, with the Colombian recently replacing Szczesny as our No.1.

If this is true, then it’s embarrassing to say the least. Fans are already suspicious that the medical staff are incompetent given our horrendous record with injuries over the past five years, so unfortunately this story is totally believable.

If we haven’t got doctors at the club who can diagnose simple injuries properly then what hope have we got of keeping a healthy squad together?

Here’s a photo of Ospina with the Barca doctor, one of the Arsenal medical staff and the Colombian international team doctor.

It was simple enough for the Barca doctor to diagnose in half hour!

Thats complete rubbish, the meeting with Barcelona was to do with other business. Arsenal have many cooperation agreements with Barcelona which have been operating for years. Don’t always assume the worst. Whilst Arsenal have had a terrible injury record, its nothing to do with the medical staff, ‘ Don’t shoot the messenger’

David Ospina travelled to Spain with our club doctor for a second opinion after we diagnosed him with a thigh strain that would result in him being out for 12 weeks,’ the club confirmed.

‘This is standard practice and our diagnosis was confirmed by the Spanish medical team. He was back playing exactly on the 12 week schedule.’

that member of medical team pictured with him is in fact our club doctor Gary O’Driscoll.

By the way anyone who thinks Arsenal don’t send our injured players to specialists for both diagnosis and treatment of injuries really don’t have a clue. We send players, just as top clubs all over the world do, to specialists all over the world. You have to realize that no club possesses a doctor who is a top man on all injuries, for example even the best knee specialists know very little about other injuries etc, we send players to Harley Street doctors on regular basis, after Debuchy dislocated his shoulder recently it was diagnosed by our Doctors, but he was then sent to a top shoulder specialist for more assessment,

Its a bit pathetic for this blog to try and create controversy with this non story when its clear the writer knows little of the way things work with regards to diagnosis and treatment of injured players, and what is best practice. A clear case of whinging over nothing to try and attain hits for the blog.

You failed to mention that the Columbian FA medical team also failed in their diagnosis.
