PREVIEW: Arsenal v Burnley, Team News, Starting XI & Prediction
Arsenal will be hoping to avoid a Halloween fright when we entertain Burnley at the Emirates tomorrow afternoon.
We’ve yet to really hit our stride this season and although we head into the weekend off the back of successive victories over Anderlecht and Sunderland, we really didn’t play particularly well in either game.
Having hit two last minute goals in Belgium, we needed two mistakes at the back to see-off Sunderland last weekend so we really need to up our game if we’re to make any impression in the league this season.
Despite our patchy form, we sit fifth in the table, above Liverpool, Man Utd and Tottenham, and just three points adrift of Man City, so it isn’t all doom-and-gloom. Chelsea look like they’ve almost got the league wrapped up already but second to sixth looks like it’s going to be tight.
If we could register victories over Burnley and Swansea then we should see ourselves in a much healthier position heading into the international break.
Team News
Kieran Gibbs is a doubt after picking up a hip injury during the closing stages last week against Sunderland. I wouldn’t risk him so Nacho Monreal is on stand-by to start at left-back.
This would mean Calum Chambers moving into the middle as Laurent Koscielny is still out with an Achille injury, while Hector Bellerin should come in at right-back.
Jack Wilshere is set to miss out with a minor knee injury but Aaron Ramsey should come back in having been rested last time out.
Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Theo Walcott isn’t ready to start but he should still be on the bench.
Mesut Ozil, Mathieu Debuchy, Abou Diaby, Olivier Giroud, David Ospina and Serge Gnabry all remain unavailable.
Preferred Line-up
This is how I’d like to see us line-up tomorrow:
I’m not a fan of these new formations Arsene is trying out as I think 4-2-3-1 suits our players best, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the boss stuck to his guns and went with a variation of the 4-1-4-1 formation tomorrow. Although is sounds like he was impressed with Sanchez in the free-role behind Welbeck against Sunderland so perhaps we’ll see a 4-4-1-1 again?
Prediction
We’re at home to the side sitting bottom of the league so understandably we’re the heavy favourites. Burnley are yet to win a game and I can’t see this run ending tomorrow. Let’s hope for a resounding victory. Arsenal 4-0 Burnley
