Arsenal Facing ANOTHER Injury Crisis With Duo Ruled Out
The injury issues just keep coming as we now face something of a crisis in goal with David Ospina ruled out of Wednesday’s Champions League clash against Anderlecht.
Ospina was due to make his first start in Europe in place of the suspended Wojciech Szczesny after his sending off against Galatasaray three weeks ago.
However, the Mirror claim the Colombian has failed to recover from a thigh injury that he picked up in training and has now been ruled out of Wednesday’s trip to Belgium.
It means that Arsene Wenger is going to have to start third-choice goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez for our crucial Champions League clash with Anderlecht and promote one of the Academy talents to be on the bench.
In what’s a double blow, Isaac Hayden is also expected to miss out after picking up an ankle injury in training on Friday which saw him miss the 2-2 draw with Hull.
Calum Chambers is back from suspension and should start alongside Per Mertesacker with Hector Bellerin and Kieran Gibbs filling the full-back spots, but Hayden would have provided us with some cover on the bench if he was fit.
Unless Laurent Koscielny can make a miraculous recovery, we’re now left with just Nacho Monreal to cover all four defensive positions, which is far from ideal.
However, there was some positive news on the injury front as not only are Aaron Ramsey and Mikel Arteta available again, but Jack Wilshere has been declared fit despite being forced off with a knee problem at the weekend.
