TEAM: Wenger Makes 8 Changes: My Arsenal Starting XI To Face Spurs
It’s the big one this weekend as Arsenal take on fierce rivals Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates on Saturday night. This is the side I’d like to see Arsene Wenger put out.
David Ospina did okay on his debut in midweek but no doubt Wojciech Szczesny should start this game. The Pole loves playing Spurs and is our No.1.
There were worries about the fitness of Per Mertesacker and Kieran Gibbs after it emerged they were both carrying knocks but Arsene has confirmed the pair should be fit to start this weekend.
Calum Chambers played at centre-back against Southampton but will revert to the right side of defence to replace Hector Bellerin, while Laurent Koscielny will also be recalled.
I’m no fan of Mikel Arteta but he’s the best we’ve got at defensive midfield right now so he’ll start but the big question is who will play next to him. I think Arsene will go with Aaron Ramsey as he was rested in midweek but personally I’d prefer to see Jack Wilshere start.
Rambo has been poor so far this season whereas Jack’s been one of our most consistent performers in recent weeks. He also knows what it means to play Tottenham and has a real passion for the NLD’s, so I’d like to see him start in midfield.
I have a horrible feeling the boss might leave Sanchez out and start The Ox as he played the entire 90 minutes on Tuesday, but for me the Chilean has to start. He’s world class, simple as that. Santi Cazorla gives us good balance so I’d like to see him on the left again.
Mesut Ozil was back to his best last weekend, mainly due to the fact he was deployed in the middle. He did drift out to the flanks regularly but he can only get that freedom when he starts centrally, so hopefully Arsene doesn’t try to be too clever and put him back on the wing.
Danny Welbeck should get his first taste of a North London Derby this weekend and hopefully his goal last week will have given him a real confidence boost.
Here’s my line-up:
