Wenger Eyeing Shock Move For Cheap Alternative To Carvalho + Khedira
Image: Daily Star
Some interesting reports doing the round tonight with the Express claiming that Arsenal are eyeing a shock move for Newcastle midfielder Cheick Tiote.
Arsene has already admitted he’s still in the market for further reinforcements this summer and as well as a centre-back, the boss is also looking to bring in a defensive midfielder.
We’ve been strongly linked with a move for Real Madrid’s Sami Khedira but his excessive wage demands have prevented any potential deal from taking place, while Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho has also emerged as a serious target but that deal is likely to cost in excess of £25m.
It seems Arsene is now considering cheaper alternatives as the Express claim that he’s eyeing a shock move for Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote.
The report suggests that Newcastle would sell for around £8m, but we’ll have to beat off competition from Russian side Locomotive Moscow for his signature.
The Ivorian was linked a few years ago but to put it nicely, he’s been bang average for the Geordies in recent seasons so it would be a huge surprise if Arsene did make a move for him.
I’d be really disappointed if we ended up with Tiote, but thankfully I think the Express’ report is nothing more than paper-talk. Fingers crossed Arsene brings in Carvalho before the end of the month, as he’d make a real difference to this squad.

I’ve lost all respect for Wenger. Mourinho is a much better manager….fact. Wenger is damaged goods. Wenger will snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. We have the shortest team in the Premier League and now have signed the least players even though we cannot win the League with the current squad. The guy is deluded.

Sometimes I wonder what Wenger is thinking when he is choosing a lineup. It took ages to bring on Chambo and he nearly scored after his first touch. Compare that to Giroud who was a disaster you wondered where has Campbell gone? His run and trcks would have been ready-mades for those defenders combine that with Chambo speed and a penalty is the least you can expect. Away goal would been juicy but now we are risking going out on away goal ourselves.

I have lost all faith in Wenger. He was given a stay of execution
with the cup win. Now he is back to shopping in the flea mart.
He has made numerous blunders. Last season was really galling. He had a good chance of winning the epl only to throw it away.
Don’t be surprised the gunners can’t last the distance.

I will be disappointed if we end up with carvalho, he has played less top flight games than rabiot and in the Portuguese league at that. Simply overrated. We need a world class winner like khedira and a world class striker like Cavani or at least reus.

I like your comment,What ever it cost this year we have to get the cup.But with Giroud I don’t think.
Please buy world class attack and Kedira(his grass is good for the rest squad)

To win the epl you need to have proven strikers. Arsenal have Giroud,Walcott who doubles as a winger and Poldoski. None of these guys are in the same class as the MC marksmen. To make it worst Arsenal only have Sanogo as backup , a work in progress who may the take the fw by storm if he develops. It is a big if.
Furthermore the attack is predictable and lightweight. Arsenal have the shortest average guys in the epl. You need skill to be supplemented by power.
That is why the gunners are regularly bullied. Don’t tell me Wilshire/Carzola/Sanchez can come out top in a 50/50 challenge with the likes of Dzeko/Vertogen,etc.Wenger is deluded if he believes skill can triumph over power.
