Arsenal ‘In Talks’ Over Potential £8m Striker Deal
Arsenal are in talks with AC Milan about a potential swap deal involving Mario Balotelli and Joel Campbell, according to reports in Italy.
We were heavily linked with a move for Balotelli earlier in the summer but the speculation appeared to subside after his poor showings at the World Cup.
However, Italian outlet TuttoSport claim that Milan are keen to offload the controversial striker due to his high wages and have sounded out Arsenal about a possible swap deal.
The San Siro club were already in talks with Arsenal chiefs over a potential deal for Joel Campbell when they supposedly offered us the chance to sign Balotelli for just £8m if we threw in the young Costa Rican striker.
Arsene has already said he’ll wait to see Campbell in training before deciding on his future, but he could now be tempted to use the 22-year-old as a make-weight to land Balotelli at a bargain price.
If the boss doesn’t see a future at the club for Campbell, then it would be a no-brainer to go-ahead with this swap deal as despite his obvious flaws, Balotelli is still a huge talent, and if we can tame his wild-side then we’d have an excellent addition to the squad.
However, Joel has shown a great deal of promise so I wouldn’t want us to give up on his without at least giving him the chance to impress in training and pre-season games.
So I’d like to us to hold out and see what Arsene decides later in the window once he’s had a chance to assess the youngster.
