Arsenal Expected To Announce Third Signing On 5-Year Deal TODAY
Arsenal are expected to announce the signing of David Ospina as early as today after agreeing terms over a five-year contract and will pay Nice €4m for his signature, according to reports in France.
Arsene Wenger has been on the look out for another goalkeeper to compete with Wojceich Szczesny this season after seeing Lukasz Fabianski join Swansea on a free transfer last month.
Several names have been linked but Ospina has emerged as the key target over the past couple of weeks and now it appears we’re on the verge of securing his signature with respected French outlet RMC reporting that the 25-year-old will sign a five-year deal after we agreed a €4m fee with his current club Nice.
RMC believe the deal should be announced as early as Monday, but at the time of writing nothing has been confirmed as yet. However, there’s still time and we announced both the Sanchez and Debuchy deals in the evening, so you never know, it could still be confirmed today.
Ospina has just enjoyed an impressive season in Ligue 1 but with just one-year remaining on his contract, we’ve been able to snap him up at a bargain price and he looks almost certain to become our third signing of the summer.
He was excellent for Colombia in the World Cup and I don’t think he’ll come here just to play second-fiddle to Szczesny, so the young Pole is going to have to be on his toes to keep the No.1 jersey.
