Buy Him Arsene! £15m Arsenal Target Hints At Move

By on June 28, 2014

Arsenal target Morgan Schneiderlin has dropped the biggest hint yet that he want’s to leave Southampton this summer.

The France international has been named by the newspapers as one of Arsene Wenger’s top defensive midfield targets, with the club believed to have been scouting him for well over a year.

Speculation in January suggested we had a bid turned down on deadline day but the boss is expected to renew his interest after the World Cup and it seems Schneiderlin would be keen on making the move.

Speaking to reporters ahead of France’s last 16 clash with Nigeria, the 24-year-old confirmed he’s already spoken to Southampton chiefs to make clear his ‘intentions’ this summer and dropped a major hint that he wants to leave after saying ‘every player wants to play on big occasions’.

“Listen, I’m aware of Southampton’s situation,”

“On a personal level, the club know my position and know what I want to do. I had a good conversation with all the directors.

“I’ve been there for a long time now. We’ll see how things go, but the directors know my position and what my intentions are.

“Everyone has ambitions, everyone has his own future in his hands, so we’ll see. Every player wants to play on big occasions.” [source: Express]

Southampton have already sold Rickie Lambert, Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana this summer so it would be harsh to deny Scheiderlin his big move too.

It’s pretty obvious from the midfielders comments that he’s told the Saints hierarchy he wants out if a big club comes in, and I just hope Arsene makes a serious play to try and buy him.

Schneiderlin would be PERFECT to replace Mikel Arteta in the holding role. He has plenty of Premier League experience, he’s quick, good in the air, a decent passer of the ball and nobody had better stats than him in the defensive midfield role in the division last season.

He’s likely to cost around £15m, and when you consider other targets like Sami Khedira or Lars Bender are likely to cost in excess of £20m and have no experience in English football, I think Schneiderlin would be the best option.
