Arsenal ‘Agree Terms’ Ahead Of €10m Move – Report
It appears Arsenal are on the verge of completing their first signing of the summer with reports in France claiming that we’ve agreed personal terms with Serge Aurier ahead of a €10m move.
Aurier has emerged as a key target in recent weeks as Arsene Wenger looks for a replacement for Bacary Sagna, with speculation suggesting that the boss is keen on bringing the Toulouse defender to the Emirates.
It looks like a deal has now taken a huge step closer with L’Equipe reporting that we’ve agreed personal terms with the 21-year-old over a five-year deal worth £60,000-a-week.
The French-based newspaper also states that we’ve submitted a €10m (£8m) bid and hope that will be enough to persuade the Ligue 1 to sell this summer.
Whether that turns out to be the case remains to be seen but it certainly looks like a deal to bring Aurier is getting closer. He’d be a typical Wenger signing and I think he’ll be an excellent replacement for Sagna, if he does end up coming to the club.
He’s powerful, has bags of pace, he never stops running and has an amazing cross on him. You only had to watch him in action for Ivory Coast the other night to see that, as he set up both goals during a 2-1 win over Japan.
It’s unlikely any deal will be completed while he’s still playing at the World Cup, but all the formalities can be tied up now with Toulouse and his agent, so there’s no reason we shouldn’t be able to get the deal in place ready for when he’s fulfilled his duties over in Brazil.
