Arsenal To Make €25m Bid For Unwanted La Liga Midfielder
Reports claim that Arsenal will go head-to-head with Manchester United for the signature of €25m-rated midfielder Sami Khedira after he was told he’s no longer in Real Madrid’s plans.
Khedira has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates in recent weeks as Arsene Wenger looks to bring in a defensive midfielder to replace Mikel Arteta this summer.
It was initially unclear whether Real Madrid would be willing to let him leave but the Express claim that Carlo Ancelotti has now made it clear to the 26-year-old that he can leave this summer as he’s no longer part of his first team plans, and they’ve subsequently called-off planned contract extension talks with the players agent.
Understandably, this has led to interest from other clubs and the report states that Manchester United are also keen on luring him to Old Trafford and will table a €25m (£20m) bid in the coming weeks.
However, the newspaper suggests that Arsene Wenger is desperate to sign Khedira and will match United’s €25m offer, and we should be confident of being able to persuade him to opt for the Emirates as we can provide Champions League football next season.
Khedira would be an excellent signing as he’s not only a superb defensive midfielder but he would also bring with him a wealth of experience, and at 26, he’s just coming to his peak years, so I pray these reports are accurate and we’re able to sign him.
One thing we have that all other clubs don’t is Mesut Ozil, and he enjoys an extremely close relationship with Khedira, so I’m sure he’d be able to have a quiet word and persuade his German compatriot to join him in north London.
