Arsenal Set To Table £30m Swap Deal For German Attacker – Report

By on June 10, 2014

According to reports today, Arsenal are set to table a stunning £30m player-plus-cash swap deal for Borussia Dortmund attacker Marco Reus.

The German international has become one of the most sought-after players in Europe after two excellent seasons with Dortmund where he’s scored 42 goals in 90 appearances following his move from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2012.

Barcelona have been strongly linked with the 25-year-old in recent days and CaughtOffside claim the Catalans interest has forced Arsenal into action with the club ready to test Dortmund’s resolve with £30m in cash PLUS Lukas Podolski.

I’m sure that kind of offer may be tempting for the Bundesliga outfit as they would get a ready-made replacement if they were to sell Reus, but I’m not sure how much I’d read into this report.

CaughtOffside aren’t the most reliable source and they go on to claim that Arsene Wenger wants to turn the attacking midfielder into a striker – which I find extremely difficult to believe.

He may be able to convert into a striker in a 4-4-2 formation where he’d have a big man like Giroud playing alongside him, but in our 4-2-3-1 formation I really don’t see him being able to play the lone role up front in the Premier League.

We need to add a pacey winger to our squad as well as a striker over the coming weeks, so I’d be delighted to see Reus come in to fill that void, but I’d be surprised if Arsene sees him as his main striker signing this summer. I could be wrong, and CaughtOffside may have the inside scoop on this transfer, but I’m going to take their report with a large pinch of salt for now.

Anyway, it’s highly unlikely Dortmund will sell Reus this summer. The clubs sporting director Michael Zorc said yesterday he could “definitely rule out a transfer” this summer amid interest from Barcelona, and the player is known to be a life-long Dortmund fan, so he’s not going to push for a move.

Reus is also currently out injured after being ruled out of the World Cup with an ankle problem, so he won’t be going anywhere any time soon even if a surprise move does happen this summer.

Reus plays LM/LF/CF he would fit into a 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2. Just not as the lone striker.

Let him stay there we don’t want Podolski to go any where and the Boss has made clear that Podolski is going no where.

Podolski is going nowhere. As a matter of fact, it should be Kroenke and his yankee cronies with Wenger who should f..k off, taking that twat Giroud with them. They’re ruining our club, and we’ll never win another league title as long as they’re there!!!

Podolski! Podolski!! Podolski!!!,how many times do l mention this golden name? 3times. Don’t make the mistake of selling him for any priceat all, he is our jewell in the savannah, truly a prince to the core, give him more playing time and be rest assured of converting 80 over 100 chances he may come across. Wenger, be warned!

Reus wont come to Arsenal bcos we wont pay him the going rate, and if anyone’s worth their pay its this guy. I’d drop Poldi in a heartbeat if it meant Reus pulling on the famous colours.

Stop pissing around Arsene and offer bigger wages, otherwise che manu and manc will cherry pick their way to titles.
