Done Deal! ‘Arsenal Have Signed Alvaro Morata’ – Reports

By on May 28, 2014

Some interesting news circulating this evening with reports in Spain claiming that Arsenal have reached an agreement to sign Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid.

We have been strongly linked with Morata over the past 12 months and were reportedly close to signing him on a six-month loan deal back in January until Carlo Ancelotti vetoed the deal at the last minute.

However, it seems Wenger has kept in touch as Spanish source La Informacion is reporting today that the boss has in fact been in regular contact with the strikers father and representative, Juanma Lopez, since last summer and a deal has now finally been agreed to bring him to the Emirates this summer.

The report claims that Arsenal have been negotiating with Madrid and came to an agreement days before last weeks Champions League final, but the Spaniard’s have insisted on a buy-back clause which will be active for the next two years.

No fee has been mentioned in the report, but La Informacion does say that the buy-back option has ‘cheapened’ the deal for Arsenal and it should be officially announced within the next couple of days.

Morata decided to quit the Bernabeu due to a lack of first team opportunities as he started just 6 games last season, and if this report is accurate, the 21-year-old will now compete with Olivier Giroud up front at the Emirates next season.

It’s difficult to know how reliable La Informacion are but they did get the Ozil transfer correct last summer and don’t appear to be too ‘speculative’ with their transfer gossip.

Fingers crossed this turns out to be true as Morata would be a great signing. I’m not particularly happy about the idea of a buy-back clause though, as it leaves us vulnerable if the striker is a success in north London, but we’ll have to see what happens.

Wenger is still thinking of a building programme. Not a squad at the top flight of the PL next season.

If this Morata guy has better pace than Giroud and more clinical finishing than Giroud then we are OK with this signing

Remy thinks he has a chance at Chelsea so better not to link him to Arsenal. Personally I think he wants to sit on the Chelsea bench with Diego Costa as their main striker . Possibly winning a medal by just being at the Chelsea club

Morata is a long, long, long way from being in the Aguero, Suarez, Costa class. Did anyone see him in the early rounds of the ECL? He was awful. If this is true, Wenger is going back to his bargain basement instincts. Even before Ozil, a top striker was our absolute priority – what is it with him. Just concentrate on what we really need Arsene!

When others are ambitious,we go to look for morata. Why not offer even more for di maria and the likes? Instead we’ll go for very average players. Just noticed we’re flirting with eto, just look at these nonsense. Man U,liverpool, chelsea, mancity, everton,ToTtenham, they are all coming so we need better players. Wilshire is clearly hyped

This my last bro. Were just the talk now, tank U very much for that. I support him for that, as U can see all those small small club are goin for big players, why big club like Arsenal are goin for small small players. That is what happen last season why Everton try to over take us if not because of Mancity Swansea were reduce Everton point they for take over our sit. We for not play champions league next season. So tanks to them for dat. We need hungry striker like coaster etc.
