Arsenal ‘hopeful Of Agreeing £8m Deal’ – Report
Some interesting reports doing the rounds this afternoon with speculation claiming that Arsenal are set to open talks with Stoke City over a potential £8m deal for goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.
We’re in the market for at least one new goalkeeper with Lukasz Fabianski set to leave when his contract expires and Emiliano Viviano already back in Italy after his loan ended, meaning Szczensy will be our only remaining senior stopper.
Several names have been linked in recent months but the Metro are reporting that Arsenal are set to hold formal talks with Stoke after making Asmir Begovic a top target.
The newspaper suggests that Arsene Wenger wants genuine competition for Szczesny and not just someone who’s content at being a No.2, and is hopeful of agreeing an £8m deal for the Bosnian international.
Stoke were prepared to sell Begovic last summer and even signed Jack Butland as a replacement, but a move failed to materialise and he ended up staying at the Britannia Stadium.
Begovic would certainly be an excellent signing but I think it might take a bit more than £8m to persuade Stoke to cash in. He was valued at around double that figure 12 months ago and had a decent season, so I can’t see them selling for any less than £10-£12m.

HAHAHA 8 million try doubling it ,though i doubt he would dream of joining the gurners after the way they treated his friend Shawcross. He will go to a big club Real or City.

Hahahahaha ffs no disrespect to the person who wrote this afterall you only report what you’ve heard like my good self..but ffs it’s the end of May not April the 1st.
Whether or not Asmir would go to Arsenal is not for me to say but he won’t be going anywhere for that paltry amount.
He’s renewed his executive box at Stoke and my gutt feeling is he will be at Stoke for the start of the season (one more year I reckon).
Arsenal will have to dig a hell of a lot deeper to be even in the running

£8m – you are having a laugh. We are not exactly distressed sellers. Total tosh – whoever wrote this has not done his homework (and unless it was pre school homework would fail).
Anyway if Begovic does move it’s likely to be to a top club.

With at least 3/4 major signings required this summer, why on earth would we spend £8 million on a reserve GK???
Not a bad keeper, but would be a pointless signing.

this season. Sczcszney doing good. But Wenger has always same class goalkeepr whole season. Now, Fabianski is left. If we sign him at less 10m ( or equal ) He`ll be good signing.
He`s not the guy who content at being no.2. I think he`ll be the last mission for Sczcszney. Go upper class or down.

Trust me. I see him all the time and DAVID MARSHALL at Cardiff City would be a much better buy at the suggested £6 million
