“I Do Not Think I’ll Stay At Arsenal” – Ace Drops Bombshell
Bacary Sagna has dropped a major bombshell on the eve of our final Premier League game of the season by confirming he’ll leave Arsenal at the end of the season.
The Frenchman’s contract is up this summer and we’ve been unable to agree terms over an extension, despite holding several rounds of talks with his representatives.
The right-back has supposedly been holding out for a three year deal worth £100,000-a-week, but Arsenal have so far only offered a two-year deal with the option of a third year, with wages of around £80,000-a-week.
I’ve still remained hopeful that we could find a breakthrough, but it seems the player will in fact leave the club this summer, with Sagna telling europe1.fr:
“I am out of contract , as everyone knows. I still consider myself as an Arsenal player at present. But actually we had a small problem to agree [a new deal], and I do not think I’ll stay at Arsenal at the end of the season.”
Several newspapers have been claiming Sagna would be off but this is the first time he’s actually hinted it himself. Of course he’s free to do as he wishes, but I think he could have chosen a better time to tell the world he’s leaving. The season may be over tomorrow but we have a huge FA Cup final next weekend, so perhaps it would have been more wise for him to keep his mouth shut until after that game.
His departure will leave a huge void to fill in the squad as Sagna has been one of our most consistent players over the past few years. It’s down to Arsene to find the right man to replace him, but I’d hope we give Everton a call and ask them to name their price for Seamus Coleman!

Congratulations on your scoop from 2013. Any more news you want to tell us? Berlin Wall’s down? Elvis is dead? Someone shot JFK?

Still think it’s a shame we’re letting him go for a difference of £1M per season – hope we don’t live to regret it. I guess AW is thinking he won’t have the legs to get up & down the wings in 3 years. Maybe, maybe not – but the guy’s given everything to the cause – broken 2 legs, never complains and always goes in hard.

It’s hardly a bombshell is it! We have been expecting this to happen all season. If Arsenal sign Serge Aurier, the fans will soon forget about Bacary Sagna.

Wenger is aware about what is going to happen and there is no need to panic. Leave everthing to Arsene Wenger, he is incharge of the team, he knows better than anyone.
