Arsenal Boost As £20m Striker Admits He ‘Dreams’ Of Making Big Move

By on May 5, 2014

Arsenal have been boosted in their pursuit of Swansea’s £20m-rated striker Wilfred Bony after the player admitted he ‘dreams’ of making a move to a big club.

Newspaper reports over the weekend linked us with a move for the 25-year-old Ivory Coast international with Arsene Wenger understood to have placed him on his list of summer transfer targets.

Bony has enjoyed a sensational debut season in the Premier League following his £12m move from Vitesse Arnhem last summer, with the striker scoring 25 goals in 47 appearances in all competitions for the swans.

It seems him impressive form has left an impression on Arsene as the boss lines-up a new striker this summer to offer competition to Olivier Giroud next season.

Swansea value Bony at £20m – which is a reasonable price when you consider the season he’s had – and now the player has opened the door to a big-money money this summer after admitting he wants to join a ‘big club’ and play in the Champions League.

He told Sky Sports News:

“I want to be in a bigger club, like all young players dream.”

“So, for me, it is very important to keep doing well what I am doing now and just try to get the chance, and if the chance comes to me then it is up to the club to decide.

“All I can say is that I’m very happy here to be playing in Europe again. If you win something you always want to do more, always pushing yourself.

“I want to do Champions League now. I want to play more European games, so I feel like that because you feel it is good to play against the big teams. It is good to check your level.”

I’m a huge fan of Bony and would be more than happy if we were to bring him in this summer. He’s proven he can score goals in the Premiership, he’s physically strong, has pace and can obviously finish, so he’d certainly offer us a real threat up front.

Like many fans, I’d love to see us bring in a real ‘marquee’ name but realistically who’s going to be available this summer? Benzema? Possibly, but only if Madrid can buy someone like Suarez, which is highly unlikely. Madzukic? Is he really what we need? Costa? He’s almost certainly off to Chelsea.

The only other name I can think of is Cavani but we’d never meet his wage demands, so I don’t see us bringing in a really, really, big name striker this summer and Bony would be an excellent choice from the ‘second tier’ players.

He’s clearly up for joining one of the big boys and Swansea would find it hard to hang on to him if we came calling, so it’s worth a punt later in the window if we can’t get hold of the likes of Costa or Benzema.

I think bony is the real deal, a very complete player, good in headers and accurate ones at that, has pace and power plus silky skills, deadly on deadballs and an excellent penalty taker, can curve out chances for himself from half chances.I actually see another drogba in him. I know most People wont agree but no need for Costa if we can get him. I said a similar thing about Ramsey some years back but nobody agrees then, we can now see what a gem Ramsey is developing into.

Bony is far more clinical than Benzima or Costa. We need a physical player upfront that can contest and win balls from defenders like terry, kompany, pepe etc. It does nt matter if he plays for madrid, barca or bayern. He is the real deal

i dont agree i dont like to see bony to wear arsenal strip giroud is more good than bony we need striker who can compete with two or more defenders who have speed, pace and dribbling ability and this is benzema, cavani, immobile e.t.c

Ozil will be under utilized if there’s no world class striker to complement his ability for good and accurate passes. Wenger! go for dt class and give us tripple next season for our loyalty to d club amidst attack of words (from other fans) on all Arsenal fans for d trophy drought.

Pls, Mr wenga bony is not d type of player we expect this time around, we need player like a Suares, Benzman, even michu is more preferable than bony. Pls, next season make us happy with good signing. Gunner 4 live.

our tittle ambitions have greatly been affected by african players departing for the Afcon cup in the recent years.bony would be good but that puts him out. we need 2 win the EPL and more next season, giroud can’t deliver for us, not even on the subs bench- pliz consider other big options like benzema and dzeko
