Arsenal ‘Confident’ Of Landing La Liga Striker With £10m Offer
Arsenal are confident they can sign Alvaro Morata this summer and will tempt Real Madrid with a £10m bid at the end of the season, according to reports today.
Morata was strongly linked with a move to us last summer and again in January when we were believed to have come close to securing a six-month loan deal before Carlo Ancelotti pulled the plug.
Morata is highly-rated at the Bernabeu and the Spanish giants are lining up a new contract with his current deal set to expire in 2015, but the player is believed to be reluctant to commit his future unless he’s given assurances he’ll be more involved in the coming years.
The Spanish under-21 international has made just 19 league appearances this season, and many of those have come from the subs bench with Karim Benzema and youngster Jesse ahead of him in the pecking order, so he’s likely to look for a move away from the club unless he’s guaranteed more game time.
With just one year remaining on his contract, his value is dropping and this could be the last chance Madrid have to sell him for a decent fee or risk losing him for nothing.
Arsene Wenger has continued to keep an eye on the 21-year-old during the second half of the season and the Express claim we will make another attempt to bring him to the Emirates this summer.
A £10m offer is set to be tabled at the end of the season and the club are understood to be ‘confident’ they can finally get their man, despite interest from the likes of Inter Milan.
I’m a huge fan of Morata’s and think he’d be a great signing, especially if we can pick him up for just £10m. Whether he’s ready to be a first team regular at Arsenal just yet remains to be seen, but at least he’ll offer some real competition to Olivier Giroud.
