£15m Midfielder Responds To Arsenal Move Reports
Morgan Schneiderlin has responded to speculation suggesting he could move to a big club like Arsenal this summer by insisting he wont force an exit from Southampton.
The French international has been hugely impressive at the heart of the Saints midfield over the past two years and he’s tipped to make a move to one of the Premier League’s ‘big boys’ this summer.
Arsenal have been strongly linked with a move for the 24-year-old in recent months with Arsene Wenger believed to have sent scouts to watch him in action, while Manchester United have also been credited with an interest in the £15m-rated midfielder.
Schneiderlin was quizzed about the interest being shown in him and while he admitted he’s aware of ‘top teams’ watching him, he insists he won’t force a move unless Southampton are willing to sell.
“We know top teams are watching us.”
“As long as we don’t receive a concrete offer, and as long as the club says they won’t sell, I will never force a transfer.” [Source: the Mirror]
This is hardly a ‘come-and-get-me-plea but he’s also not entirely ruling out the possibility of leaving Southampton either. The player is simply saying he wont force a move, which suggests he will be open to leaving if a club can agree a fee for his services.
Schneiderlin has previously admitted his dream is to play for a ‘great club’ and opened the door to a move to the Emirates when he told reporters last month:
“It is my dream to one day play at a great club,”
“Arsenal? I have a three year contract, so it will not be easy.
“It’s my dream to one day play at a great club though – so why not?”
I’d love to see us make a serious move for Schneiderlin this summer as he’d be the perfect long-term replacement for Mikel Arteta. Lars Bender is another player I’m a huge fan of, but Schneiderlin has the vital Premier League experience and is likely to be cheaper, so fingers crossed Arsene can lure him to north London at the end of the season.
