TEAM: My Preferred Arsenal Starting XI To Face Hull – Ozil?
Arsenal can go one step closer to securing fourth place with another win over Hull City on Sunday afternoon, this is the team I’d go with:
Goalkeeper: Despite some encouraging displays in the FA Cup by Fabianski, Szczesny is our first choice in the league and should remain so.
Defence: Arsene Wenger has ruled out Kieran Gibbs with a hamstring injury and Nacho Monreal is a doubt with a leg problem but he’s likely to come through a late fitness test to be passed fit. Thomas Vermaelen did well filling-in on the left on Tuesday but I’d go with Nacho if he’s fit. Otherwise the defence should remain unchanged.
Midfield: Aaron Ramsey came off the bench to make a positive impact against West Ham so I’d bring him back in to the starting eleven after his rest in midweek. Mikel Arteta needs a well earned breather after two gruelling matches and with Mathieu Flamini now back from his ban, the Frenchman can step in. Kim Kallstrom did okay on Tuesday but not enough to keep his place.
Attack: The big news is that Mesut Ozil should be back in the squad, but after five weeks out with a hamstring injury I’d ease him back in by giving him 30 minutes as a substitute. Santi Cazorla was excellent against West Ham in the middle and Lukas Podolski deserves to keep his place after an impressive brace. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was given a complete rest in midweek so he should be fresh to start on the right.
Striker: Big Olivier Giroud continues to frustrate, showing both sides of his character on Tuesday with poor misses followed up by a sensational goal, but there’s no doubt he’s still a better option that Sanogo.
This is how my team would look:
Everton’s defeat to Palace last night has put fourth place back in our hands so let’s tighten our grip with another three points against Hull. Our injuries are slowly clearing up and the return of Ozil should be a big boost, so hopefully we’ll get the job done.
What do you think of my team?
