TEAM NEWS: Wenger Gives Update On Ramsey, Wilshere, Diaby + Monreal
Arsenal welcome Manchester City to the Emirates on Saturday and it’s vital we pick up a win to get our season back on track.
Arsene Wenger held his press conference today and he gave the press a team news update with the latest on the fitness of Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere, Nacho Monreal and Abou Diaby.
Rambo is set to rejoin full training next week after suffering another set back in his recovery. It’s been over three months since he tore his thigh muscle against West Ham but hopefully he can get back training again at 100% and he might just make the FA Cup semi final against Wigan.
Monreal is also expected to be back in training next week as he continues to struggle with a foot problem, but the boss has called for patience with Wilshere who the Frenchman claims ‘needs more time’ to overcome his fractured foot.
I’m not expecting to see Jack until the end of April at the very earliest so the best we can hope for is he features in the final few games of the season, but Arsene seems to think he’ll make the World Cup.
There was also some surprising news with Arsene confirming that Abou Diaby will resume training next Tuesday – which ironically falls on April 1st. There is no expectation for Diaby to play again this season but if he does manage to it will not only be a welcome surprise, but also a minor miracle. I honestly never thought we’d see him in an Arsenal shirt again.
Here’s Arsene’s update:
“[Ramsey] is the first who will come back certainly. Now with Nacho Monreal next week he should be joining in normal training next week again. Thursday it’s planned but let’s be cautious.
“Jack Wilshere needs more time. I don’t know exactly how long, he works very hard on his rehab and it’s a fractured bone so you cannot accelerate that process. For the World Cup certainly [he will be back].
“Diaby is coming back now. He had a preparation in France, where he had his rehab and will be back to full training on April 1.”
“Let’s not forget he has not played for a year. I cannot predict now how much time it will take him to be competitive.
“I cannot plan for him to play a role now in the coming games, but maybe I will have a good surprise when I see him.”

The City game is our last chance to get ourselves back in the title race but unfortunately as well as Ramsey, Wilshere, Diaby and Monreal, we’ll also be without Theo Walcott, Laurent Koscielny and Mesut Ozil, so the boss has been left with few options to change things up this weekend.
Fingers crossed we can pull something out of the bag….
