PSG To Offer Pastore + Lavezzi In Exchange For Mesut Ozil – Report

By on March 18, 2014

Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain are ready to offer Arsenal Ezequiel Lavezzi and Javier Pastore in exchange for Mesut Ozil this summer, according to reports in Spain today.

In what is a brief report, it states that PSG feel they have a ‘great opportunity’ to sign Ozil this summer after the German endured a ‘bad season’  here in the Premier League following his £42m move from Real Madrid.

The media outlet suggests that although Arsene Wenger is not interested in selling Ozil, the big-spending French club are going to try and tempt us by offering both Ezequiel Lavezzi and Javier Pastore in exchange.

I’m not sure where to start with the report to be honest. Firstly, the myth that Ozil has had a ‘bad season’ is becoming laughable. Those who feel he’s been poor really need to watch him closer during games. Failing that, just look at his stats in terms of assists and chance creation, as there hasn’t been many better players in Europe this year.

Secondly, Ozil already turned down the chance to join PSG when they made a last ditch attempt to hijack our move last summer. Plus the fact he’s still got over four years left on his Arsenal contract and we have no interest in selling, so this story is a non-runner really.

I’m sure there’s going to be speculation surrounding the future of Ozil this summer because of the media-driven hate campaign against him, but I’d be hugely surprised if he wasn’t still an Arsenal player next season.

Couldn’t agree more with the sentiments in your article. The media campaign against Ozil this year has been disgraceful – nothing measured, accurate or fair about most of it. The comment which seems to have passed into general acceptance is that Ozil has had a poor season! This, of course, is ludicrous. He scores, creates goals for others and relentlessly pushes the team forward with the superb accuracy of his passing – he very rarely gives the ball away. Just think of Man Utd’s signings this year or indeed any of the other big clubs – then most reasonable people would agree Ozil’s performance has far exceeded those. Arsenal fans should be shouting his name from the roof tops. When he returns to full fitness, I hope he gets the reception he deserves. It will certainly send a strong message out to those who constantly seek to target him so unfairly.

Totally agree with your views on Ozil and what he actually does compared to what people actually see! But at the same time… Pastore would be a direct Ozil replacement and Lavezzi would sort out our striker/wing problem. Plus they’re both worth at least 35-40m each. As good as Ozil is. I think this deal is better

Lavezzi and Pastore are not worth 35-40m each.

Pastore could go for 15-20, Lavezzi not much more than 25m.

Lavezzi would be an excellent signing for Arsenal, but not at the expense of Ozil.

English reporters are always against arsenal, I know tahat they are not happy that we are doing well this season so they will do everything possible to kill the moral of our most influential player. Ozil, no doubt, is a very good player but 4 him 2 be @ his best, he needs fast and pace attackers around him, when Walcott and Ramsey were still fit, Ozil’s quality on the field was glaring 4 all 2 see, so 4 us 2 see the best of Ozil again, we need these type of players around. Arsenal will definitely buy new strikers next summer, I hope they are the pacy types then all the media repoters that have been say -ve things about will shut their mouths up.
