Arsenal Fans Livid After Referee Announced For Spurs Game
Bad news Gooners. Mike Dean has been selected by the Premier League as the referee to take charge of this weekend’s North London Derby against Tottenham.
Obviously this hasn’t gone down well on social media among Arsenal fans. Many of you will be aware of our ‘suspicious’ record with Dean in charge as it’s been discussed at length by many bloggers – although completely ignored by the mainstream media.
While that record has improved slightly over the past year or so, with us winning two and drawing one of our last three league games, we have still won NONE of the last 10 away fixtures he’s officiated – losing six and drawing four.
Overall, since November 2004, our record with Dean in charge reads played 38 won 9 and lost 14. That’s a win percentage of just 24%. These stats are incredibly low for a team that’s regularly finishing in the top four and goes against the stats of all the other referees, indicating there is a clear bias when Deans in charge.
More worrying though is the fact we’ve not won any of the three NLD’s he’s been in charge of at White Hart Lane, so the omens are certainly not looking good for this weekend.
I’m sure you will all recall the time not so long ago when Dean celebrated Louis Saha’s goal against us back in 2012 (watch the video below). It’s not the first time he’s appeared to celebrate an opposition goal being scored against Arsenal, but again the media have done little to highlight it.
So it looks like we’ll be playing against 12 men on Sunday at White Hart Lane, let’s just hope we can beat the odds and come away with a positive result.
