Arsenal ‘Expected’ To Make £25m Bid For La Liga Attacker

Arsene Wenger is expected to table a £25m bid for Real Sociedad winger Antoine Griezmann this summer, according to reports today.

The 22-year-old has been in superb form in Spain this season, scoring 19 goals in 38 appearances, and has understandably been attracting a lot of interest.

He was linked with a move to Arsenal in January and it seems the Wenger is ready to step us his interest this summer with the Mirror claiming that the boss has made Griezmann one of his key transfer targets and is ‘expected’ to submit a £25m bid this summer.

This report comes a couple of days after Arsene admitted on French TV that he has been “following Griezmann for a long time”, so it’s possible the newspapers are just speculating.

However, if we do make a move for the attacking midfielder, we’re likely to face some stiff competition as Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are among the clubs also keeping a close eye on him.

If those clubs are also interested, it’s unlikely Sociedad will agree to sell for £25m as they’ll try and create a bidding war. And we all know how Arsene rarely gets involved in such things as he’ll never pay over the odds for any player.

Griezmann was recently quoted as saying that he’ll consider his future at the end of the current season:

“I am happy at Real Sociedad, I am very relaxed about the situation.

“I want to finish the year here and then we will see.” Griezmann is quoted as saying by the Mirror.

He plays on the wing for Sociedad but can also play through the middle, and is expected to make his debut for the French national team against Holland this week.

If he continues his current form he’s almost certain to be in Didier Deschamps’ squad for this summers World Cup and a positive showing in Brazil is only going to attract further interest in the player, so we better get in quick if we want to bring him to the Emirates.
