German Striker ‘Upset’ As Arsenal Move Falls Through

By on January 31, 2014

The transfer window has closed and unfortunately it looks like Arsenal have failed to bring in a striker.

We were linked with a number of front-men throughout the month but with no new addition signed by the morning of deadline day, the search was on to make a last minute buy.

The big name being touted around the wires on Friday was German hitman Miroslav Klose with widespread reports suggesting Lazio rejected our offer of £2m to take him on loan until the end of the season.

Reports tonight suggest that Klose told the clubs hierarchy that he was keen on the move and was left deeply ‘deeply upset’ after seeing his proposed switch to the Emirates fall through.

The Metro claim the prolific striker wanted to come to the Premier League as he thought it would boost his chances of making the Germany squad for this summer World Cup and he had apparently already spoken to our German contingent – Mesut Ozil, Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski – about life at the club, however Lazio refused to do business.

It’s a real shame we couldn’t pull this one off as Klose would certainly have added to our goal threat up front during the second half of the season. He’s one of the deadliest finishers around and would have been a real alternative to Olivier Giroud, but it wasn’t to be.

Now we have to go through till the end of the season relying on Giroud, Bendtner, Sanogo and Podolski. Whether that will be good enough to land us some silverware remains to be seen.

How disappointed are you that we didn’t sign a striker? Let me know your thoughts…

Xtremeley disappointed.Arsene once again went through the same drill of waiting for the last 30 mins.and came out with nothing but shame.its needless to remention his greatness,in the past& that he’s a part of the history of us,but that was a DECADE ago.i’m sure that the defeat in this window will badly demoralise the squad, just as Ozil signing lifted everybodys spirit.Wenger &Kroenke we’ve had enough of your antiques.Arsenal fans please unite in showing your discontent & anger.plague the clubs site to show that we want CHANGE.come on people i’ve already started

So ashamed of the way the club run their transfers. if you can bring in a 30years old bench warmer from cold freezing russia, why not get Bebatov a BPL proven winner to help the attack, and you fans blame ozil for not performing. who is upfront to do d finishing wen he lay d passes?

Wenger is and will always be his own man. He has offered longevity to a potentially great team but remains flawed in his unwillingness to spend big when required – like the present moment. We will not win the premiere league with this present incarnation Man City will. They are a superior side with stupendous attacking options on the flanks, mid field and of course the amazing combination of negrado and eguiro up front. Wenger is dellusional if he thinks Arsenal can climb to the top of the tree now Man City are there. Allegedly we have the money so why not spend it. Man City spent years floundering in the widerness, look at what money has achieved for them.

This from a club that has at least 100 million pounds in the bank, Wenger looks for loan deals, it guts him to spend any more than 10-15 million on a player, the sooner this imbecile is out of the club the better, then it can move forward

Wenger is stuck in the past, time to move on, Ferguson knew it was time to go, it will take stupid a bit longer to realise, his time is up

Trouble is Wenger is a dictator, a one man show, delegates nothing, and gets 7.5 million a year for his trouble, dictators NEVER give up POWER, EVER

I’m not dissappointed!actually I expected it!No team sells their best players in the january window.I bet most of the players Arsenal wanted, like Draxler,Klose, etc.wanted to come!but players don’t control their fate most the time!!We just have to fight tooth and nail for the rest of the season if we want to be champions!i like it that way!!!

Same thought. We were absent to long from the champ zone, but plenty gooner act like we are use to be and have no patient to get the outcome from being it instantly. I my self, a bit dissapoint but can understand the difficulties. In fact, no BPL big business were done this winter. Time will test Arsene’s decision. Prepare for a big storm gunners, this gooner right here will stand behind you as ever.

I usually come on here as there is some decent stuff at times. I’m sorry but the comments on here are disgusting. Give the man some slack! Although i will moan in saying that yes he should have got a striker, buy in no world can i say wenger out! The loan deal seems decent for me (backup to injuries etc and only till end of season) but only time will tell…have some belief or don’t support arsenal!
Arsenal through thick and thin, arsenal till i die! COYG!!!

And anyone talking about draxler…youve got to get it out of you…it was neer going to happen! Not a proven goalscorer, more of a potential future prospect, and price waay too high (more than mata(who is awesome and the finished article))

if anyone needed another proof why not to give wenger another contract here it is.The last week showed it clearly starting with terrible looser attitude agaist westham bringing on defender instead of a striker when we went down to 10 men and ending with another huge failure to sign someone who is so necessary

You are all a bunch of stupid people. There wasn’t any quality player there except Draxler. Unfortunately Schalke were not willing to sell. Now tell me were did AW got it wrong. We need to get together and encourage our player like other teams do. I really believe that we can win something this season. We’ve been on top of the all first round until last Tuesday and the we did it with the same players. Why wouldn’t we do it to the end. Do not forget that the sudden injury to Ramsey and the red card to Flamini have caused disturbance to plan AW had in order to bring a player to cover for Walcott.

Thank you for being the only smart comment on here… Signed Özil (people said AW wouldn’t spend that much), Top of the league all year (people said we weouldnt make top 4), AW addressed an immediate issue in midfield, and a club has to agree to loan or sell THEIR player before AW even has a chance to sign them.

Some of our supporters need to realize they’re commenting on message boards and AW is recognized as one of the best EVER. We will all be sorry when he retires like SAF.

this is crap. Klose’s club would have known they need their man and could have told Arsenal in the initial contact via phone

    There is another reason

There are times Wenger prove to be his own worse enemy.

I can image the final word he wrote on his list at the close of business is – IDIOT.

This morning when he look at the squad: He must answer this question, can they play at the highest level to the bitter end of the season.

I fear just like Walcott, players will not have time to fully recover from injuries. A total waste of an opportunity – Again.

Arsenal will finish 3rd at the end of the season,we always have this injuries problem the end of the season,it has started again!

My heart is broken and is bleeding profusely even as I am writing this submission. Arsene Wenger has done it again by giving so many Arsenal fans pain and heartache all over the world. Kroenke well done with your deceptive promise. I will be glad if Arsene Wenger is shown all these articles from fans across the globe so that he can see our bleeding hearts but would they let him read them?

yar what on earth is wrong with this guy. Is he on suicide mission or something. When we had fabregas.. we were missing a quality striker v persie being sidelined by injury. When we had v persie back we were without a assist provider. Now its the same….. ozil is without a quality striker…… spare me but a tired giroud misses too many chances & bendtner gives a dummy to himself before shooting by passing with his other foot… ..just ridiculous how wenger considers bendtner above berbatov ……just sack wenger yar… .its too much……just needed one good striker to challenge for all 3 cups

I am deeply saddened just like my fellow Arsenal fans here in Kenya. I have been flying to London frequently just to watch our matches bcoz of Özil’s presence. I don’t want disappointment in results after Wenger failing to sign a striker. Infact Wenger should Go!!!

I wonder whether winger is a coach or one of the shareholders draxler was about to arrive but winger rule outbcz of valuation the scouts that Arsenal send to have agreed to pay 37m do u thing he want have a trophy no he has his own transaction in the club If ur Arsenal fan don’t put ur life in a critical condion bcs supporting has its own spirit.

Wenger his killing our team with his own selfishness, I don’t see any reason for him not to sign a good stricker, when he personally where we lack, he should check our coming features and tell me how we are going to make it through, even if its only draxler enh ?

What sort of rubbish is this? Please let me ask, are we doing business or are we to win trophies? What annoys me most it that wenger has the money what is he doing with all this big kit? Why can’t he sign a prolific striker? I hate to see him go but I love to watch him leave

In my opinion we are making a hill out of a mole. We are placed well in the league rankings and pace and tempo is all what we have lacked so far. You are all suggesting we buy Berbatov and Klose without realizing in what front we actually lack. Podolski isn’t getting starts and you talk about bringing another striker. Look at chelsea their strikers have been awful to say the least but despite the money they don’t go out for a striker cause none are available. What we need was a DM and we got one. As far as Draxler goes that was crazy money for a 20 year old kid. We paid 42 million for Ozil and we are yet to see him play at his best. What made you believe that Draxler would have had an impact right away. I think we are all panicking. With or without these signings we couldn’t have been better than city so lets focus on getting behind the team and pray that city slips up.

      February 1, 2014 at 7:21 am

Berbatov is better than giroud,he is he is an ozil like striker 99.99% control and both footed striker..giroud is just a french who gets favour from his fellow frenchman racism..av noticed even on the pitch ozil ignores him and also throwr hands up whenever girud disapoints

He did try get klose but i don’t think he try’d hard enough. I think klose would have be a deadly striker for arsenal with alot of goals for the last few months of the league. Anyway cmon you goooners

It will be respectful not calling fans stupid. I got your point but one thing you should understand is Arsenal fans are passionate. They want to see success. Tell me if Giroud has an injury now, only you should tell me the end story.

i will not wet to the end of the season before i know that wenger has fail us again to win atleast a spoon, he has already lostout from league cup. the remening cups arsen wenger now prove to us that he lack the ability to lift its, he has already started drow match that allow man city over take to number one posession, other opposing teams who were having daptses have strengthening their teams. wenger should explain to we fans howcan a coach win league like english premiership without a striker who can score atleast thirty goals in all competition, other goals shares to offencies midfielders, but as it is asferther am concern it’s midfielders won us matches. i know when somebody is ages he/she lack ability to delifer, fans in nija are feeling desapoited not signing a striker. this is high time for wenger to resign.
