Draxler Move OFF After Wenger Refuses To Pay Asking Price – BBC

By on January 30, 2014

Some bad news has just been broken Gooners with BBC journalist David Ornstein claiming that Julian Draxler’s proposed move to Arsenal is off after Arsene Wenger refused to meet Schalke’s asking price.

It’s been widely reported that we’ve been locked in talks with the German club this week trying to thrash out a deal for the exciting 20-year-old attacker.

Various reports have been flying about over the last few days and Arsenal fans have been desperately trawling the internet for updates.

However, the latest comes from the reliable BBC with Ornstein claiming tonight that the move is off after Wenger refused to meet Schalkes asking price, and he suggests the only incomings before Friday’s deadline will be loans.

If true, it’s not going to go down well with some sections of fans and the fear is we’ve now blown our best chance in years to end our trophy drought.

As Wenger said earlier, things can change hour by hour during the closing stages of the transfer window so you never know, we could still yet get some good news tomorrow, but as of now things aren’t looking good on the transfer front.

Every year Arsenal supports wait for WENGER to strengthen the team during the transfer windows in January, and every year he fails to make an impact in the market while all our competition has !!! and every year for the past 8 years, the team goes through a bad period of results at the end of Jan & february ending the chance of winning something. Has he done it to us again !!!!

‘every year he fails to make an impact in the market while all our competition has’
Well come on then clever dick, who have Spurs bought, who has Liverpool bought, who has Man City bought etc etc. Chelsea have bought Matic, big deal. The only team to have strengthened is Man U with Mata.

Mate you’re either Wenger’s biggest fan or you’re just ignorant. If you think we have the same squad depth of the likes of Chelsea and Citeh then you’re deluded. Walcott, Ramsey, Flamini(supended for 3 games)Rosicky and Wilshire constantly injured. Arteta is a liability at best. Just have a look at our fixture schedule changed to fit in with tv showings then you will see how quickly what looked like a promising season will most likely fall to pieces because Wenger has failed to add to a depleted squad. We are not asking for Wenger to break the bank but he needs to add to the squad.

Read what I wrote before mouthing off. If you cannot understand what I wrote you are the ignorant one. Where did I say we shouldn’t buy someone? I hope we do sign someone for the reasons you say, I was simply disputing Blair’s assertion that all our rivals have strengthened when they haven’t made any purchases either. Also simply adding to the squad for the sake of it is silly, look at Spurs, they signed 6 in the summer but most of them are flops so far.

Bring David Dein back. Even during 2004 when we had a good squad, he strengthened us with Reyes to ensure we win. Now we have a chance to compete again with some investment to help a weak squad and we squabble over bus fare. BRING DEIN BACK!

Hardly a weak squad, is it? We have a fantastic group of midfielders that compares well to any other team and the likes of Podolski, Vermaelen and Monreal who struggle to get a game, would walk in to a lot of Champions League sides.

I’ll be disappointed if we fail to strengthen, but let’s not pretend we don’t already have a squad of talented players.

The squad obviously needs a boost and that isn’t going to happen.By the time Arsenal play Citeh everything will have fallen away, once again, and the same old excuses will be out in force. But hey!! the Manager will have been handed another three years and the promise of nearly £25 million.Funnily enough not to spend on players but to be placed into his own bank account….and so the vicious circle continues.I’m not saying that Draxler is the answer but at current market values he’s ccertainly worth more than Arsenal, and specifically Mr Wenger, seem prepared to pay.

A new player would be good news but let’s face it we’ve played well to this point with the current squad. And it’s an excellent squad. A new signing won’t guarantee any improvement in the short term and overpaying is crazy. Most January signings don’t start making an impact until the following season. Injuries as ever with Arsenal are a worry but this team can continue to do well until the end of the season. Will we win a trophy. Who knows? I lived through 70s and 80s when there was no chance of a trophy with Liverpool winning title after title. But one thing we are this season is competitive at the top level.

Is Wenger a bumbling idiot when it comes to transfer market? It appears he draws up a long list and set his own figure, based on his ten year old evaluation.

Let us see if he can pull quality out of a hat. Not just players who show form for a season, but powerhouses that can turn a game.

Enough of the Joe – average. The team is packed with the likes.

Arsenal needs 4 world class players to really be a force. Iron sharpen iron. For Wenger to produce such, he would have to concentrate 75% of his time in one-to-one coaching.

Yes Wenger is a bumbling idiot, that’s why we are doing so well this season. Change your name to The BoreMan, you are the idiot.

Oh yeah forgot we get medals for the PL in Jan, Wenger’s refusal to add to the squad will be our down fall in no silverware again, this deluded fool has cost us again and AKBs like you so deluded it’s pathetic. Our best chance for years to win something and this man has destroyed it he will go back to his profit driven fourth spot trophy

Not Wenger, the board…… that’s different I think….. so the board are happy to M. City walk away with the title, referee bias is bad enough without the board hampering us….:)

Once again,Wenger has dissappointed us.just to fullfill his arrogance.he is turning into a tragic figure, one who refuses to accept the changing world of football, that the season is won in the summer, not in May,depending on who u sign and if u have enough high-class back-up.lets not kid ourselves that Ozil came because of the quality of the Ars of the past decade, his transfer was one of sheer luck and down to a very unique situation.but look what just 1 world-class signing did for us,and that wasn’t only for the technical aspect, his arrival lifted the whole team, pumping up the level of the usual squad that i’m sure was astonshing to themselves as well to all of us.he brought with him the mentality of winning.Mr.Wenger,u broke our hearts again.and shatterred our way overdue hopes.congrats

Mr Wenger always pride himself on facts rather than opinions. Is it a fact that Ozil is “value for money” buy ? No, he dissappeared during games against Man Utd, Chelses and Man City. Is it a fact that Draxler is over-valued ? No, it’s just Wenger’s opinion. The same opinion that mentioned Yaya Toure will not make it as a central midfielder.

The January window needs to be scrapped. The only teams it helps are Chelsea and Man City because they are only ones that will pay inflated prices.

Arsen wenger is so stupid when it comes to transfers. Ozil body language toward Giorld has show him giorld is not the type of strikers arsenal need. This coming month is where my team arsenal will find themselves in the fifth postition. walloct, Aaron Ramsy is out and to add salt into injuries flamini is out for four matches what a shame to wenger? who is to blame?

what a shrewd man wenger is. he agrees a new contract worth millions for himself but cannot buy a top class player for the club’s sake! wait, at this rate mesut ozil will start getting frustrated as all the chances he creates go begging due unfit or mediocre players around him.

Mr wenger think he is always right and others are wrong, I can’t deny the fact that I think wenger is still the right man to be the club manager but he just please make things right at these club, all eyes can see fan are complaining emotionally they charge so much money for ticket and can not strengthen the team when it’s needed, it’s always like this at open windows I don’t even understand wenger ambition for this club anymore hmmm
