Report: Arsenal Interested In £23m Lukaku As Chelsea Look To Sell

Chelsea are planning to sell striker Romelu Lukaku this summer and Arsenal are interested in signing the Belgian international, according to reports.

The 20-year-old joined Chelsea back in 2011 from Anderlecht but was barely used in his first season before being sent out on loan to West Brom the following summer, and he made a huge impact at the Hawthorns, scoring a very impressive 17 goals in 35 appearances.

Jose Mourinho returned to the Bridge in the summer and surprisingly allowed Lukaku to go back out on loan to Everton after signing the ageing Samuel Eto’o, and he’s continued his fine form scoring 9 goals in 18 games for the Toffees.

However, it appears he’s still not done enough to convince Mourinho he’s got what it takes to make it at Chelsea and the Mirror claim they are planning on cashing in on the youngster at the end of the season to help fund a move for Edinson Cavani.

The newspaper suggests Chelsea want £23m for the giant striker and name Arsenal among the clubs who are interested in signing him along with the likes of Atletico Madrid and Tottenham, while Everton have also expressed their interest.

Personally, I’d be delighted if we could land Lukaku. He still be raw, but he’s now proven himself in the Premier League at two different clubs and is still extremely young so no doubt Wenger and the Arsenal coaching staff could improve him even further.

He’s got pace, can play the lone role up top and is a very good finisher. £23m seems like a decent price for a player of his ability and potential, so I’d be pleased if we could pull it off. Chelsea have proved with the sale of Juan Mata that they are willing to sell to rivals now, so they have no excuse not to do business with us!
