BREAKING: Theo Walcott Ruled Out For 6 MONTHS!
Arsenal have just confirmed the worst possible news. Theo Walcott has been ruled out for at least 6 months after sustained a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee on Saturday.
The winger was stretchered off against Tottenham in the dying minutes after appearing to jar his knee while chasing down a loose ball.
The initial diagnosis was that he mat have stretched the ligament and would miss up to a month.
However, it appears the injury was far worse than anyone had anticipated and the club have just released the following statement on Arsenal.com:
“After coming off injured in Saturday’s 2-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur, the Club regrettably announces that Theo Walcott has sustained a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee.
Theo will have surgery in London in the near future and is expected to be out for at least six months, therefore missing the remainder of the season and the World Cup in Brazil in the summer.
Everyone at Arsenal wishes Theo a speedy recovery and we look forward to seeing him back on a football pitch as soon as possible.”
This is a devastating blow to our hopes of lifting silverware this season and it seems our bad luck with injuries is never going to end. Theo has been in excellent form since recovering from a stomach injury earlier in the season and he is a vital part of our attacking force.
Thankfully, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is back in full training and Serge Gnabry looks like he’s ready to make the step up, but neither are at Walcott’s level yet and his loss is going to be a huge blow.
The pressure will now be on Arsene Wenger to bring in a replacement that can help us maintain our title push during the second half of the season. Which isn’t going to be easy to find in January.
