VIDEO: Spurs Youngster Stamps On Monreal – Will The FA Take Action?

By on January 5, 2014

A lot has been made of Theo Walcott’s ‘score-line’ gesture towards the Tottenham supporters during our 2-0 win at the Emirates on Saturday.

There has been uproar among the Spurs fans while many headlines in the newspapers chose to concentrate on the ‘indecent’ over the fact we had just totally outplayed our great rivals to reach the fourth round of the FA Cup.

The media seems to be driving an agenda that could very-well see Theo called before the FA to explain his actions and potentially handed a fine or ban.

However, perhaps the FA, fans and the media should also be taking a look at another incident from yesterday’s game that saw Spurs youngster Nabil Bentaleb clearly try to stamp on Nacho Monreal’s hand:

Arsene Wenger said after the game that Monreal claimed Bentaleb had actually caught him, and there was clearly intent.

As the referee failed to see the incident, there is no reason why the FA shouldn’t take retrospective action against the midfielder and slap him with a three game ban for violent conduct.

But will they? Probably not. Because it’s not splashed all over the back pages and Sky Sports haven’t made it a central talking point of the game. Instead, don’t be surprised if Walcott gets charged for smiling while making a ‘2-0’ gesture with his hands in response to the abuse he was receiving from the away end.

And they say there is no media agenda against certain clubs? Do me a favour…..

Grow up!! his hand wasnt there when he was putting his foot down, Monreal moved his hand, no intent whatsoever, dont support either club but this really is petty stuff as is the whole walcott affair, be a right kick in the stones for both clubs if both players get 3 games….

No intent??? You what?? So why did he stamp his foot down then? There was intent there to either catch his hand or to threaten to! If Suarez did that then he would have been banned for 10 games! The Theo thing is banter! The spuds player is pure aggression with intent to harm an opponent! He should be banned for a long time!!

My first reaction this article and some of the comments was that it’s a bit of bias. On second reading it shows the dishonesty that cowards hiding behind a key board can exhibit. Sure the player stamped on the GROUND in frustration but you have to be,either totally moronic or totally dishonest. If the weight of Bentalab had stamped of the player’s hand, let’s say ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY POUNDS, even a cretin would NOT expect broken bones let alone a bruise, but it appears that NO INJURY occurred so is Wenger, Monreal or the pillock scribbling this deceitful piece lying. I know where my money is and it’s not the manager or the player.
As “Arsene Wenger said after the game that Monreal claimed Bentaleb had actually caught him, and there was clearly intent*” NO DOUBT mac 14 will post the source and verification of his quote as it seems all the major media source have unexplainedly missed this interview. Hmmmmm.. I look forward to the link being published shortly…..

Bring me your hands and I’ll stamp on them with the same manner of force as was so obvious in this incident, but than, we are Arsenal and we are used to being discriminated against – and yet remain the best!

If he didn’t stamp his foot down like a big baby in the first place the FA would not have to look into it.

Agreed Muggins. This is paranoid nonsense. The video is at most inconclusive, and Sky have been very balanced in their coverage of the Walcott thing. Shame that some Gooners can’t just enjoy the win and performance but feel a need to find something to whine about.

An agenda against Arsenal? You have more fans amongst Fleet St than any club!!! Thats why Wengers 8 years of failure doesnt generate the kind of media campaign that Benites AVB Mancini and Moyes (soon) face….when 2 defeats is a crisis and 1 year without a trophy defines the manager as a dead man walking. Walcotts gesture and smirk was silly and immature but not worth a ban. His retribution will come when he comes to WHL.

that’s why you spent over 110 million and couldn’t even create one chance against us, spent less than half of that, and not only are we top of the league but we’ve beaten you twice. let me tell you, if wenger spend 110 million on players, he will finish higher than 5th. Like Lord sugar said wenger is the best manager in the league. so desperate you appointed Arsenal supporter Tim sherwood. He probably secretly will try to get you relegated. sweet.

Arsenal are top of the league and beat spurs in the FA cup again. One stamping dope and several supporting ones dont matter. The FA? well their name speaks volumes.

not only is he a gooner, he is French to boot so could not hate him more. No contact made with the hand so move on. Not sure why Bentaleb was given full debut in an intense north London derby anyway. Strange decision in my opinion.
