Giroud & Wenger Up For Monthly Premier League Awards
Arsenal are flying high at the top of the Premier League, currently holding a five point lead over their rivals, so it’s no surprise that Arsene Wenger and Olivier Giroud have been nominated for the October monthly awards.
Boss Wenger is up for the manager of the month gong along with Liverpool’s Brendan Rodgers, Mauricio Pochettino of Southampton and Chelsea’s Jose Mourinho.
Due to the 10 day international break, we only played 3 Premier League games in October but we remained unbeaten, beating against both Norwich and Crystal Palace and drawing away at West Brom.
Striker Giroud is perhaps a bit of a surprise inclusion in the player of the month shortlist as he only scored once in the league during the month, but he did provide three assists and has drawn plaudits for his tireless work up front.
Arsene should have a decent chance of scooping the manager award but with Giroud up against the likes of Luis Suarez, Daniel Sturridge and Sergio Aguero, I think he’ll just miss out.
