Huge Blow As Wilshere Ruled Out Of Liverpool Clash
Arsenal have been handed another injury blow with the news that midfielder Jack Wilshere will miss tonight’s vital clash with Liverpool through injury, according to reports this morning.
Wilshere was in line to start with Mathieu Flamini out with a groin injury but Goal are claiming that he has suffered a re-occurrence of his ankle problem and is now unlikely to even make the bench tonight.
The report suggests the damage is to his right ankle – the one he had surgery on in the summer – and Arsene Wenger has decided to sit him out of the Liverpool game so not to aggravate the injury any further.
After being plagued by ankle problems for over two years, this season was meant to be a fresh start for the youngster and he was supposedly over his troubles.
However, it seems the issues are proving more difficult to overcome that expected and Wilshere regularly goes down clutching his ankle during matches, and was forced off against Borussia Dortmund recently after taking a painful kick to his ankle.
He was subsequently left on the bench against Palace last weekend before returning to the starting line-up against Chelsea in midweek, but it seems he’s picked up yet another injury and must also be a doubt to face Dortmund on Wednesday.
It’s another blow ahead of what’s going to be a defining week for us and the last thing we needed was another injury, especially with Flamini, Walcott, Podolski, Diaby and Chamberlain already on the sidelines.
