Italian Starlet: ‘Arsenal & Chelsea Scouts Watching Me’

By on October 24, 2013

Verona winger Jorginho has claimed that Arsenal are among the clubs keeping an eye on his progress this season.

The 21-year-old has been in red hot form so far this campaign, scoring 5 goals in 8 games to help Verona climb to fourth in the Serie A table.

It seems his impressive display’s haven’t gone unnoticed at the Emirates with the youngster claiming that scouts from Arsenal, as well as London rivals Chelsea, were in attendance to see him score twice during a 3-2 win over Parma on Sunday.

“In the match against Parma there were scouts from teams like Arsenal and Chelsea.

“Maybe if I keep playing well I can show exactly what I’m worth.” Jorginho is quoted as saying by the Express

I have to admit I haven’t seen much of the kid but he’s certainly been earning rave-reviews in Italy and his manager Andrea Mandorlini has admitted its going to be tough for them to hang on to the winger.

“I know, only too well, that it will be hard to keep the likes of Jorginho, but behind them we are already allowing others to grow and mature.

“We are making use of those youngsters who are given little space but who will have an important future for this club.” Mandorlini said

Jorginho was born in Brazil but appears to have pledged his allegiance to Italy and has already represented the Italian Under-21’s.

We scout hundreds of players every year so there’s no guarantee we’ll make any formal bid for the youngster, but he’s certainly one to watch out for.
