Park & Eisfeld In As Wenger Names Arsenal Squad For WBA Game

By on September 25, 2013

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has named his 18-man squad to take on West Brom tonight in the Capital One Cup and as expected he has rested the majority of his first team.

The likes of Jack Wilshere, Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey, Olivier Giroud, Laurent Koscielny, Bacary Sagna, Kieran Gibbs and Wojciech Szczesny are all given the night off handing opportunities to some of the fringe and youth players.

Experienced heads such as Thomas Vermaelen, Nacho Monreal, Per Mertesacker and Carl Jenkinson will make up the back four while Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini are likely to start at the heart of midfield with Lukasz Fabianki in goal. So we certainly have a solid base to work from.

In attack it’s likely to be Nicklas Bendtner, Serge Gnabry and Ryo Miyaichi with the final place possibly being taken up by either Ju-Young Park or Thomas Eisfeld. Youngsters Chuba Akpom, Hector Bellerin, Isaac Hayden, Alex Iwobi and Kristoffer Olsson are also in the squad.

Here’s the confirmed 18-man squad that’s travelling to the Hawthorns:

4 Per Mertesacker
5 Thomas Vermaelen
8 Mikel Arteta
13 Emiliano Viviano
17 Nacho Monreal
20 Mathieu Flamini
21 Lukasz Fabianski
23 Nicklas Bendtner
25 Carl Jenkinson
30 Ju-Young Park
31 Ryo
37 Chuba Akpom
40 Hector Bellerin
42 Thomas Eisfeld
44 Serge Gnabry
45 Isaac Hayden
