Wenger: Arteta Could Return Against Stoke

By on September 20, 2013

Arsene Wenger has been speaking at his press conference this morning that has confirmed that midfielder Mikel Arteta could return to the squad this weekend as we welcome Stoke City to the Emirates on Sunday.

Arteta is yet to feature this season after injuring his thigh shortly before our Premier League opener against Aston Villa back in August.

However, it seems he’s now set to return to the first team fold with Wenger revealing today that the 31-year-old will return to full training today and a decision will then be made on Saturday over his involvement against Stoke.

It will be great to make Mikel back as the squad is down to the bare bones right now but it remains to be seen whether he’ll come straight back into the starting eleven if he’s passed fit.

I have the feeling he’ll be among the subs and most likely make his return in the Capital One Cup against West Brom next week. That would be the most sensible solution in my opinion.

Central midfield is hardly an area of concern right now as we’ve got Mathieu Flamini, Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere and Mesut Ozil all fit and playing well so there’s no need to rush Arteta back.

My prefered arsenal lineup vs stoke

    ………………………shesney………………………..

    Jenk…………mat…………kos…………gibbs

    ………………rambo…………flam………………..

    Theo…………………………………………….Rayo
    ………………………….Ozil…………………………….

    ……………………….giroud………………………….

    Subs: fabianski,sagna,vermaelen,monreal,akpom,wilshere,arteta.
My prediction.. 2-nil to the guns but 3-1 looks likely.

    Stupid line-up.

Ryo sucks (so far) and won’t start. Wilshere will start instead. And if he, for some reason, won’t,
then Gnabry is ahead of Ryo. The reason why Gnabry didn’t feature in CL has to do with
quota issues. But he can play in the PL.

    lol@Ryo,

I remember seeing this kid in his home country tearing defences apart. Hes been pretty poor so far.

No chance he would start ahead of Wilshere or Gnabry. Well said Rob.

Rayo misses an opportunity which apparently he should score and he turns poor? I guess your one of the longtime ramsey critic, good thing you now have to chant his name on the pitch, well done. Try to watch a player as often as possible before you address him as “poor”. For all i care, his miss wasn’t as bad as Rvp’s vs leverkusen besides i thought gnabry was injured that’s the main reason i picked rayo ahead of him but you have no right to call one’s opinion(prefered lineup) “stupid” purchase some manners if your short of it.
