Arsenal Bid For Barca Midfielder & Hold Talks With Former Chelsea Man

By on August 31, 2013

A couple of interesting bits of transfer news to bring you today with reports claiming we’ve made a cheeky bid for Barcelona midfielder/defender Javier Mascherano and have held talks with former Chelsea attacker Saloman Kalou over a move to the Emirates.

Lets start with Mascherano link and talkSPORT are suggesting that we have made a surprise bid for the Argentinean defensive midfielder.

There is very little substance to the story other than to say we’ve made an offer. There is no detail of how much the bid was supposed to be for or whether Barca were receptive to it, but judging by how limited their defensive options are at present I’m guessing they politely told us where to go.

Mascherano of course has experience in the Premier League after playing for West Ham and Liverpool, but even if the Catalans were open to selling him I’m not sure the 29-year-old would be up for the move.

I suppose he doesn’t get regular games so he could be tempted, but I really don’t see anything in this one. Plus, we’ve just signed Flamini on a free and he’s a little bit like Mascherano, only cheaper and not as good!

Next and the Daily Mail are claiming we’ve held talks with Lille over former Chelsea attacker Kalou, who’s available this summer for around £2.6m.

The 28-year-old only joined the French outfit last summer but they want to sell him already and he’s been linked with the likes of Liverpool, Cardiff and West Brom but none were able to agree terms.

Kalou is understood to be demanding £60,000-a-week and the newspaper claims we’re mulling over whether to go ahead with the deal or hold out in the hope we can land a bigger name.

I’m sorry, but if Kalou is the ‘top, top, top’ quality player Arsene Wenger has been banging on about, I give up. Sure he’s is a decent enough player but he’s a Chelsea reject and we should be aspiring to be better that the likes of Chelsea, which won’t happen if we’re signing players of the caliber of Kalou.

Hopefully this is idle paper-talk as I’d be seriously underwhelmed if we ended up signing the Ivorian. I’d rather have kept Gervinho.

Less than 3 days to go. Tick, tock Arsene……

Quite frankly if Kalou issigned by Wenger then, as far as I’m concerned, thats it for another year and the ONLY signing I want to hear about in January is a replacement manager.
Wenger you’ve been great. Thank you very much – and goodbye.

kalou is definitely on my list of predicted last-minute panic buy crap. we’ll probably end up trying to get ba on loan as well. i feel sorry for any of the panic buys that do come in as in the supporters’ eyes all they will ever be is panic buys. it’s a shocking state of affairs. plus, wenger won’t have to explain any of it for at least 10-11 days as he’ll have pissed off to go and commentate on wc qualifiers on behalf of castrol for a french satellite channel.

now I’ve no problem even if arsenal doesn’t sign too many big shots. only 1 or 2 players needed and I don’t want to see mascherano or kalou in emirates stadium…

An inform Kalou < An inform gervinho, both out of form are sh*ts, so why would we sign a lesser version of gervinho? Makes no sense to me, but it might to wenger he is full of stupid surprises. As for mascherano i would rather get my coquelin back from loan and play him regularly. Talking about weak links in a team mascherano is certainly barca's and also pique i think. But again we all know wenger too much to take any odd news for granted

I’m beginning to lose all hope, will we sign a world class player by the end of the transfer window? Only Wenger knows, and I doubt even he does!!!!

Is the Kalou the signing I want, no. But honestly I have faith in the squad we have and he will be a solid player coming off the bench. Much better than gervinho for sure. Kalou wasn’t bad for Chelsea but he wasn’t expensive for them so he never played. Again, it’s not te signing I want but I wouldn’t be against it.

Yes,thats exactly what i have done over here, paying multi choice to have a decorder watching the craspy Arsenal is a joke i won’t do again, untill he Ars wenger becomes serious in his work. How do we regulary have free transfers, while the board said they have £70m to spent, spent on what then if we can’t buy players?Wenger should go for a reality check and made to understand that the economy has gone up now and we are nolonger in those days he signed Henry,he should learn to accept and adopt to daily changes but not rediculing spurs for their massive spending.

Kronke is a croock, a big thief, only him can explain what is happening right now. Bt as for me, there’s no money. Let them stop fooling fans, Kronke, Gazidis and Wenger are bunch of criminals.

Teacher: okay class can anyone give me an example of a sentence containing the word “contagious”.
    Johnny: yes miss.
    Teacher: go ahead Johnny.
Johnny: my dad supports Arsenal, and yesterday I asked him how long it will take Mr. Wenger to build a really good squad like what Tottenham have and he said ” I dunno son, at this rate it will take the c*nt ages”.
