Arsenal Have £12m Bid For Yohan Cabaye Rejected
Arsenal have had a £12m bid for Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye rejected, according to reports this afternoon.
Sky Sports ‘broke’ the news that a bid had been submitted around 1pm and this was quickly followed by the Daily Mail reporting that a £12m offer had been rejected by Newcastle.
Cabaye joined the Geordies from Lille two years ago and has been a huge success in the Premier League. While some fans are concerned he’s not the out-and-out defensive midfielder we desperately need, I do feel he’d be a good fit into the Arsenal set up.
You also have to consider he’ll likely be a ‘replacement’ for Mikel Arteta, who’s out for six weeks through injury, and we may even see another ‘proper’ defensive midfielder come in as well. Sky Sports claim we’ve enquired about Sevilla’s Geoffrey Kondogbia today so if we bring him in as well as Cabaye I’ll certainly be a happy Gooner.
Kondogbia is a beast of a midfielder who’s got huge potential. He may not be ready to play week-in, week-out just yet but he’ll be an excellent addition if we could snap him up. However, Real Madrid and Monaco have been linked as well this summer so I wouldn’t get my hopes up just yet.
We’re certainly going to have to pay more than £12m for Cabaye though. Will Wenger pay what it takes? We’ll have to wait and see but I’m not holding my breath….
Would you like to see Cabaye join Arsenal? What about Kondogbia?
