The dreaded international’s took place last night and while we sweat over the fitness of Bacary Sagna, Theo Walcott and Aaron Ramsey ahead of Saturday’s big kick off against Aston Villa, it was good to see Santi Cazorla getting himself on the score-sheet for Spain.
While a long-haul trip to Ecuador is far from ideal preparation for the weekend’s action, and it may result in Arsene Wenger starting Cazorla from the bench against Villa, the attacker got a rare start for his nation and scored the second as the World Champions ran out comfortable 2-0 winners.
