Arsenal Boost As Wolfsburg Deny They’ve Signed Gustavo – Get It Done Arsene!

It seems we may have hope yet in the chase for Luiz Gustavo with fresh reports suggesting that Wolfsburg have denied they’ve agreed a deal to sign the midfielder.

Reports coming out of Germany on Wednesday morning claimed that Arsenal had missed out on yet another transfer target with Gustavo supposedly opting to remain in the Bundesliga and join Wolfsburg instead of making the switch to north London.

It was suggested that the 26-year-old had elected to snub us in favour of the side that finished 11th in the Bundesliga last season because they could promise him guaranteed first team football, something we could not offer him in a vital World Cup year.

However, it seems those reports were a little premature with the German version of Sky Sports News claiming this evening that Wolfsburg have informed them that no deal is in place to sign Gustavo yet.

For those who can’t speak or read German, it basically says Wolfsburg have denied they’ve agreed a deal to sign Gustavo.

If this is true, we need to act NOW and get this lad signed up asap. He is exactly what we need in the middle of the park; a proper defensive midfielder, at the peak of his career, he’s played at the highest level, he’s versatile and can fill-in at the back when needed and is desperate to impress to secure his place in Brazil’s World Cup squad.

Gustavo had earlier talked-up a move to Arsenal earlier in the week, so we know he’s interested, saying:

“My contract with Bayern runs until 2015, but it is very important that I play first-team football to keep getting called up for the national team.

“I am in a delicate situation at Bayern, and this needs sorting out. I have personal and professional reasons to move. I have heard about the Arsenal interest. It’s a big club we’re talking about here, so of course I’d like to play for them.”

“Arsenal play a very attractive brand of football and are in the Champions League,” he added. “They also have a very clever manager in Arsene Wenger. Even when Bayern beat them in the last Champions League, you could see they are not pushovers.”

With targets dropping like flies and deadline day fast approaching, we need to start making moves quickly and Gustavo would be a great start! Get it done Arsene!

      No doubt! Free up Arteta and Ramsey to do what they are supposed to be doing. Give us plenty of options attacking from midfield. Need a defensive midfielder above striker in my opinion.

    He would have to replace Arteta, maybe not straight away but will offer good competition. Gustavo is very very similar to Arteta but with more height, pace and strength.

    He would play CDM alongside Arteta at CM allowing him to push forward more possibly moving Calzola LM Wilshire CAM and Walcott RM with Giroud up front. Or can mix and match between Wishire/Calzola/Ramsey/Magician/Arteta to play in the centre and CAM with Ox/Rio/Gnarby/Walcott/Pod for LM and RM and Giroud/Pod/Walcott ST

    im 30 years old and ive supported the arsenal man and boy and im tellin ya ive never been as frustrated as i am now with wenger and who ever else is in charge of sealin the transfer deals, thay just dont seem to b abel to tie up any sort of deal for top class players. i mean fair play 2 santi,arteta,the podl,giroud, thay r all proving 2 b good signing but its all ways done at the last min or its a unknown sort of player which is all well and good but as soon as any 1 we r interested in that is a big name or theres a bit of hype about and the player could even express a wish to play 4 the club and then at the last we stutter and then some1 else moves in and then bang thayve gone, its never been the same since david dean left, that was a man who could close a deal 4 a player. i think that if thay dont sing gustavo then how serious r thay bout winning, coz thay know whats needed and if u have 2 pay a little bit more than u wanted 2 then so be it thats life im afraid deal with it and make this club great again iknow u can do it wenger i still have faith if u can swallow a bit of pride and just adapt 2 the times not meaning go silly but when it comes to havin 2 pay up 2 5,6,7 million more than u wanted coz of other interest then u know that its gonna b a good investment coz ur obviously getting compertion 4 him so u got 2 stamp ur athoritory and say we gonna get this player and thats that. plz mr wenger for the love of the club start spending some money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Wenger is stupid,he only gud in free transfer at the moment,look at the way he snap up Yaya Sanogo.Let the board do something do something now before its too late,even now its late but we still have a little chance to buy some players to strengthen the squad.

    What kind of fan are you that you can’t see having Arteta and Ramsey as holding players is ludicrous!?? Which of our trophy winning teams have we had that didn’t contain a REAL defensive midfielder.. Let me see…errr none! It’s fans like you that give “God” Arsene his arrogance to believe this team can win anything! What has happened this summer is nothing more than embarrassing. It’s worse than the summers we actually lost first team players! Its as simple as this – either Arsene wins a trophy this year or he goes! No new contract! How long is a big club like AFC going to let this man live off his past glories! You wouldn’t see this at any other club that really has ambition!
