Marca: Real Madrid Have NO Interest In Signing Luis Suarez

By on July 25, 2013

Some encouraging news coming out of Spain today Gooners with Marca claiming that Real Madrid have no intention of trying to sign Luis Suarez to replace Gonzalo Higuain.

One-time Arsenal target Higuain is on the verge of signing for Napoli in a £32m deal after he passed a medical on Wednesday afternoon in Italy and his departure has lead to rumours that Madrid may try to hijack our move for Liverpool’s Luis Suarez.

With the Uruguayan hitman believed to favour a move to the Bernabeu and Liverpool desperate to sell abroad, interest from Madrid would be a disaster for Arsenal as we try to engineer a record-breaking deal for the 26-year-old.

However, Spanish newspaper Marca – who’re well known for being Madrid’s ‘mouth-piece’ – have claimed today that the La Liga giants have no intention of bringing in a new No.9 to replace Higuain, and will instead give youngsters Morata and Jese a chance to shine in the first team.

“We believe in them [Morata & Jese] and they deserve this opportunity. They are also very good. If Higuaín leaves, we are not going to sign a new forward” a Madrid source is quoted as saying in Marca

The report claims that Madrid won’t move for Suarez ‘even if he begs for a move’ and hints that the club would rather save its money to go after Gareth Bale.

If true, this is excellent news for Arsenal as it leaves us with a clear run at Suarez. Madrid looked to be the big competition to his signature and if they won’t be bidding and Suarez wants out of Anfield, we have a great chance of signing him this summer.

We should however remember that Marca have their own agenda and have been wrong and/or misleading several times in the past. Not least with the whole Higuain saga. So while this appears to be good news for us, let’s air on the side of caution for now.

Does anybody think that liverpool will let Suarez go for less than £50 million to there main rival for 4th place ,Have arsenal got £50 million to spend on 1 player ? Am sure if arsenal did they would of snapped up higuain for £20 mill less ! I think that even though lfc have give him permission to talk to afc , by no means do they have to sell him till at least £10 million more is added on to the £40,ooo,oo1, just can’t seeing lfc giving in on this 1, and if not i can’t see afc getting there man no matter weather Suarez hands in a t, request !

What makes Liverpool fans think they are a rival for fourth place. Everton were closer last season!

Jim, I no were never put a challenge in for 4th place but that’s are goal and arsenal have that place so that makes arsenal are main realistic rivals, we’ve got a lot of catching to do but with clubs like us we have gotta have targets .

I suppose the point I would make to RedhotLouie is that If Liverpool sell Suarez to Arsenal then Arsenal wont be Liverpool’s main rival for 4th spot BUT the money they get would enable them to make a genuine challenge against whoever that rival is. They have had 2 shots at CL place with Suarez now and it hasn’t happened.
Arsenal are offering Liverpool another shot at that opportunity. they shouldn’t spurn it.

I totally agree with both of your comments , I would love Suarez to do a u turn and stay but I also think he will not be at lfc next year, but on the other hand lfc do not want him to go to the gunners because it will automatically end any hopes of dreaming of the top 4 , and it will push AFC even further away from any 1 outside the top 4 , so I think LFC will make this deal very hard to happen for the gunners and play hard ball, even if Suarez hands in a transfer request, at the end of the day he has 3 years still on his contract, I do not think this is about the transfer fee with LFC I think it’s about Suarez signs a 5 year deal with them , it’s by by to the champs league for at least 5 years, andLFC KNOW IT!

    Redhotlouie,
If he’s made up his mind to go why would you want him hanging around the club if he didn’t want to stay? that wouldn’t be good for the dressing room. If he does want to go this summer and the club tries to block it imagine how messy this could get when you think about what kind of trouble this guy generates
I live down under and saw the game against Melbourne V last night. His body language was shocking. He had to be told to go with the other players and salute the fans.
I think he’s off and I think Liverpool know this too, they are just going to play hardball and get the best deal they can( sell him offshore with enough time to get replacements in.
He has a good upside, his talent and is a match winner.
The downside is he is liable to do more stupid things and spend significant periods on the sidelines(First 6 games next season already.) Also, if he does go to the gunners and doesn’t have success instantly, how long before he starts saying he wants to go somewhere to win things?

Arsenal are paying £55m. 6 ban minus £5m and bad attitute and future bans minus £10m. £40m is quite resonable bid. Arsenal get Suarez and Liverpool get Liandro Damiao and Eriksen. The saga most end now. Arsenal and Liverpool will get benefit for quick action. Liverpool will get a good time to sign new players and Gunners will get to know Suarez better before season start.

Regardless what you say or myself it don’t matter top and bottom isl lfc are not going to sell him for less than £50 million like it or not , a mean do you think the owners are going to back track over the smoking comment and Rodgers saying they are nowhere near the value , at the end of the day they can sell him for a £5 or £55 million if they want, just stating a fact that’s all.

Mr Bredan Rodgers is a desperate man, he will not achieve anything at Liverpool even if he tries to hold on Suarez, soon he will be fired like others in recent time. There is no point of holding a player who clearly does not want to play for Liverpool.

One article I read earlier this week, how Mr Rodgers tryed to compare Suarez fee to cavani’s fee to PSG, so they’d valued him 50m, I cannot recall cavani getting involved in a racist incident or bitting someones arm as well as being ban for the first 6 game of the season.

One think I do agree on what Liverpool chairman said earlier this week, what the hell are arsenal smoking at emirates… 40m bid for Suarez!!! Liverpool should take this money and start to invest it on their weak team who has achieved shit all, even their rival everton have been doing better then they have in recent years.

As far as I’m concern anything above 35m is good enough for an unreliable player, god knows what he’ll do next, maybe this time he’ll give a low blow to a ref for ruling out one of his goals for offside and get banned for a whole season…

So I take it your a gunner and you are also phsycic what’s the lottery numbers we ain’t selling him for anything less than ££55 million , the owners have clearly stated that so to me yous want something that we have that you can’t afford so that to me and every other fan is called jealous ! Ha sad really. YNWA

Of course im a gunner, I guess u haven’t read my comment properly, y would anyone be jealous, Suarez is a good player without doubt but his not worth the hassle or 50m to lure him here. Even though our current team has not been good in the past years due to new stadium and financial restriction we’ve had, we’ve still finished above our main rival as well as qualified for champions league spot, can’t say the same for Liverpool – what’s your excuse???

You’ve oversold Torres to Chelsea ( by the way I was happy about that) and now doing the same here… Liverpool had made bad investment with the money you acquired from Torres now you have a second chance to make amend. All honesty I hope we don’t spend this kind of money on Suarez, let him stay at Liverpool an watch how liverpool crumble to thei lower side of table with an unhappy player… Good Luck

Suarez is a very good player, had not been for missing so many games last season he could have been a top scorer.Arsenal has to pay heavily for him.
