Suarez Given Permission By Liverpool To Hold Talks With Arsenal

By on July 24, 2013

According to the BBC, Liverpool have granted Luis Suarez permission to talk with Arsenal over a potential move to the Emirates, but the Merseysiders are adamant the striker wont be sold unless their £50m-plus valuation is met.

Arsenal tabled a £40,000,001 bid for the Uruguayan on Tuesday and the extra £1 was believed to have activated a clause in the strikers contract that meant Liverpool had to inform him of the offer, while some also suggested it would automatically mean the player was free to hold talks with us.

The exact nature of the clause remains open to debate but the BBC are reporting this afternoon that Liverpool have now given Suarez permission to talk with Arsenal, and it looks like this potentially record-breaking deal has moved a step closer to becoming a reality.

The BBC had earlier claimed that Suarez was interested in a move to the Emirates – which he must be if he wants to hold talks with the club – so the major stumbling block is agreeing a price with Liverpool and it seems Brendan Rodgers is determined to get at least £50m for his star man.

Whether Arsenal will be prepared to meet this figure remains to be seen but if Suarez was to hand in a transfer request it would go very-much in our favour. It would be a bold move for him to do so though, particularly given how much Liverpool and their fans have stuck by him during the last two years, but you wouldn’t put it past him if he really wants out of Anfield.

It’s starting to hot up Gooners and with Gonzalo Higuain in Italy to complete his move to Napoli, lets hope we can get a deal done for Suarez soon or we might find Real Madrid enter the bidding and really screw things up for us.

Do you think we’ll sign Suarez? Would you pay £50m for him?

As an Arsenal fan i’m not sure this is good news for us, would have preferred Huigain and money to spend on other players. However he is a great player and I suspect he will sign for about 45 million unless – Madrid come in for him which is quite likely.

Use have to understand arsenal,he was with Liverpool for 2 half years but was banned for 18 games ( And none of them was for sending off ) And if use don’t start winning things,he’s going to want to leave ( SIMPLE ) But Goodluck to use if use pay the £55 million pound 😉

I’m not optimistic about this move. I can see Liverpool offering the man a new contract along similar terms as Arsenal are offering. I can’t see Arsenal paying anything more than 40m for Suarez. Neither would I feel devastated if they don’t. There are good players out there who could be more value for money.

Well as an LFC fan and I do like AFC as well but not near as much though, I think LS is playing here. I do not think he wants to go to AFC, it makes no sense after what he has been touting. I believe this is a move to get Madrid to wake up. Anyway if you do get him good luck, great player but massive baggage to go with it and somehow I don’t think AFC will pay the price required, if they do they are nuts to take such a high risk, there is no way you can control this guy and if you don’t do well by his standards he will be off again, Hope you put a minimum buy out clause otherwise you may lose out big time

Higuian to Napoli then Suarez to Madrid then Rooney to Chelsea Then Wenger and the board give us the tight ass attitude excuses about being in for top top players but they did not meet “The Clubs” valuation and we end up with some injury prone french league rejects, same old Asenal.. Just pay the damn asking price! don’t go around saying WE GOT MONEY TO SPEND!! then expect to pay the minimum for world class players. To many years of disapointments. The whole idea of building the new stadium was to keep competing at the top, well now the debt is refinanced to 20 mil a year until 2030 or so, we have huge new sponsorship deals, tv revenue, global appeal that makes us the 4th most valuable club in the WORLD! just look at the fans in the asia tour they was just amazing ..yet we still scrap over 4th spot every year. Come on wenger and the board, make us great again or get out.

Advised Liverpool that £55m to be offered for his services starting with this season – less £2m per match he is not eligible to play in, total therefore £43m. That seems a very reasonable price for a player who wants out, but is initially suspended for the first 6 PL games of the season.
