Report: Arsenal Urge Brazilian To Lower Demands To Seal ‘Dream’ Gunners Move

By on July 20, 2013

Arsenal have told Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Cesar he’ll need to take a pay cut if he wants to seal his ‘dream’ move to the Emirates this summer, according to reports today.

We’ve been strongly linked with a move for the 33-year-old since Queens Park Rangers were relegated from the Premier League last season, but as far as we know no formal offer has been submitted as yet.

A new keeper should be a priority this summer for boss Arsene Wenger with Wojciech Szczesny putting in some inconsistent displays last season, Lukasz Fabianski is never going to be our regular No.1 and Vito Mannone has joined Sunderland.

The Metro claim Cesar is Wenger’s first choice target and the Brazilian international is understood to be desperate to secure a move to the Emirates as he wants to remain in London where his family are settled.

However, the newspaper suggest any deal has stalled due to the players wage demands and we’ve told the former Inter Milan ace he’ll have to lower his expectations if he wants to finalise any move.

Cesar is currently away on holiday after being given extended leave by QPR following his excellent display’s for Brazil at the Confederations Cup last month, and Harry Redknapp has apparently told him to find a new club as they want his hefty wages off the books at Loftus Road.

Napoli were linked last week but the Italians have pulled out because of Cesar’s demands and are now looking to sign Pepe Reina on loan from Liverpool, so we appear to have a clear run at the experienced keeper and a move is in the pipeline as long as he’s willing to accept a more realistic salary.

For me a keeper is not a priority but we do need one after losing mannone shea and charles-cook. £1.5m and £60k a week for cesar seems good as long as wojech and lukasz are convinced to stay and make it a 3 way fight. Perhaps we could loan martinez to qpr as part of the deal?

We do not want Fabianski to stay. He has not really made it and never will.

      It’s all about the wording..
“Yes we can do it” is different than “Yes we will do it”..

Arsenal can afford his fee and wage demand, they are just stingy and that cost us alot of players

Why is it that Wenger has never been prepared to pay much for nor to a keeper ? It is crazy. He inherited Seaman and the whole great Arsenal defence – without which he would have won much less. He did buy Lehmann (for a song) and he did well for us. Since then we have always been short of a top keeper. Can the Arsene worshipers NOT understand why the rest of us think Wenger is a big handicap ?

We are losing out on most top players b’cos we are stingy.Ivan n Wenger must bow down their heads in shame. What is 60,000 a week 4 Cesar? Its nothing. Check what Joe Hart n Cech are taking.

I know gazidis said we could pay a player 250k per week, i’m not a fan of gazidis but what he meant was we could pay top players what they deserve, ceaser is a top player but anything above 70k per week(for a keeper/considering his age) he would be over paid.. As much as i want to see ceaser in an arsenal shirt i dont want us to start paying rediculous amount of money to players who actualy dont worth it.. 70k per week on a 2year deal(with the option of a year extension) is the maximum for ceaser. The GK position is the only area we can consider not to strenghten among all other positions, a CDM A MOST SO AS A CF & A CB, WE ALSO NEED A PROPER LEFT WINGER

Why would he be overpaid ? Don’t you (and your hero, Wenger) think it is rather important to have a top player to stop the ball going into our net ?? In any case at over 30 a keeper is at his peak. And are you saying the 2 Poles would be good enough ? Other top clubs would think that laughable !!

Okay so Cesar sits on the bench half a season because he is primarily there for experience and to push Szczesny. He gets £70,000 sitting on the bench, the likes of you who are too ignorant to understand the basics of wages soon start harping on about how all our squad players are over payed. When a few months earlier you were slamming Arsenal for not throwing cash at every player they wanted just to get them on to the wage list. Let them do the business, there’s a reason they’re employed to do it and not you guys.

        July 20, 2013 at 7:45 pm

Because we don’t have “wingers”. Our only wingers are Gnabry, Myaichi, Wellington and possibly OC but not when Wenger sees him as a central midfielder. Gervinho also but I think he’s gonna be sold.

He’ll sign abother midfielder and play cazorla on the left. Didn’t like it when he first did it but it worked out pretty well

Shows you everything you need to know about Arsene Wenger.

He wants to sign the current Brazilian international goal keeper who has played for top clubs in Siere A and expects him to take a pay cut to come to arsenal.

Wake up wenger. Top internationals don’t take pay cuts when they move clubs.

The only person that should be taking a pay cut is our useless 7.5 million pound a year manager.. The mans a joke.. Hes never gonna change. Hes turning our club into a the laughing stock of Europe.. someone should remind him its not his money.. Jog on wenger your turning into an embarrassment….

I just not know what to say, coz I’m tired of being patient. Is Wenger not seeing the way other managers are working hard in the market?. He is going to buy not after the top players would have gone elsewhere. Arsenal is becoming a laughable stock in England and Europe as whole. The club has what it takes to be the best in the world but God will punish the shameless Wenger and the entire board, coz they are causing us a lot of pains. I not listen to any speculation again, until a real deal is done. All We want is the signing of Quality players and not Quantity, which will sort out the problems with the team, such as a DM, RBD, LW and top class GOAL SCORER. Plz shameless animals do this 4 us.

I think for £1.5 mil, this would be a bargain for us. However, wouldn’t be too gutted if we didn’t get him, I still have faith that szczesny will be a top class keeper.

Szczesney is a joke he think he is in top of the world but he is not. Ceaser is . He has won everything a player dreams. If qpr can afford 70k and arsenal cant afford than arsenal is the joke. Let ceaser be no 1 if the sceptical said we pay him to much for a bench warmer. A goal keeper can last until his 40 if he still has his fitness abd focus. Enough saying it just showed how arsenal is.
