Moyes: News On Fabregas Bid ‘Within The Next Day’ – Arsenal Fans Worried?
Manchester United manager David Moyes hopes to have more news on the clubs bid to sign former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas ‘within the next day’.
The champions submitted an opening offer believed to be worth £25m on Monday and chief executive Ed Woodward flew home early from the clubs pre-season tour on Wednesday to attend to urgent transfer business – which many thought was linked to Fabregas.
Moyes has now claimed he’s hoping to know more on where United are at with their bid ‘within the next day’. Speaking to Sky Sports, he said:
“I couldn’t tell you exactly where we are with that, but I will hopefully know a little bit more in the next day.
“I might have a little bit more information about how it’s going.”
So it appears United are serious in trying to lure Fabregas to Old Trafford. I honestly haven’t given this transfer a second thought as I really don’t see Cesc going to United. Call me naive, but there’s only one club he’ll leave Barcelona for, and that’s Arsenal.
I’ll be posting an article on why I’m so confident he won’t join United later today, but for now let’s allow the United fans this time to get excited about the thought of signing Cesc.
Arsene Wenger confirmed on Wednesday that we had a buy-back clause in the players contract, so we’ll be kept well informed of United interest. No club can sign him without us either putting a proposal forward to Fabregas or passing up the opportunity to re-sign him – Arsene already hinted that we’d be interested, so that wouldn’t happen – and Cesc wouldn’t turn down the chance to come back to north London.
Keep calm Arsenal fans, Cesc to United isn’t going to happen. Stay tuned for the reasons why, I’ll have the article up shortly.

Are you worried that Cesc could join United? Should we be going all-out to try and re-sign him?

It wont happen for many reasons. The first one being financial.
Firstly, Cesc has a buyout clause, but it’s £200million. So first of all Barca have to want to sell or it’s a no-go.
Secondly, Barca selling to Man Utd for any price below £70million would represent a loss as half that fee goes to Arsenal as per the 50% sell on clause in his contract from the Gunners.
Thirdly, if Barca did agree to a transfer (even for a loss – it does happen) then Arsenal have the option of a £25million fixed price deal.
Given that Barcelona still owe £10m of the original purchase, Arsenal only have to pay £15m for a player that would cost Man utd £30m+.
So how is this ever going to happen utd fans?

I thought we had a ‘sell on’ clause as well as a ‘buy back’ ?

so many utd fans on arsenal fan sites these days! their ignorant attituted towards the actual clause in fabregas’ contract is pitiful, moreover with the new revenue coming in for the arsenal, we’d be better off resigning cesc rather than that muppet saurez..im not really worried as wenger is already aware of cesc situation…he’s certainly got enough brain to block this move to work in his favour at least for the next summer.

Can’t believe United fans think this could acctually happen! You know he had many friends still at Arsenal and he is in regular contact with Wenger as he states in interviews. If he leave Barca they will only sell to Arsenal as its the only way they could make money out of it. Would you sell one of your best players for a loss of about 20m? No? So they will sell to Arsenal so they can recoupe some of the money, or they might wait until his contract runs out so the clause is no longer valid… But it lasts another 3-4 years! Sit down United fans
