Report: Man Utd Close On Fabregas As Chief Exec Flies Home To Push Through Deal

By on July 17, 2013

Some worrying news today Gooners with reports claiming that Manchester United chief executive Ed Woodward has left the clubs pre-season tour of Australia to fly back to England to push through a deal to sign Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas.

Sky Sports announced late on Wednesday afternoon that Woodward was coming back to the UK to carry out ‘urgent transfer business’, which they claimed was nothing to do with the sale of Wayne Rooney and was about an imminent signing.

The Daily Mail, and several other sources, are suggesting the incoming player is none other than former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas and United are now thought to be extremely confident of sealing a deal to bring him back to the Premier League this summer, despite the fact the player has previously insisted he wants to stay at the Nou Camp and Arsenal have first refusal to sign him.

United reportedly had a £25m offer rejected on Monday but were expected to go back with an improved bid and the Mail claim they’ve received enough encouragement that Fabregas wants to go to Old Trafford, that chief exec Woodward has flown home to tie up the deal.

If, as many have lead us to believe, Arsenal do have first refusal or a buy-back clause, and Fabregas goes to United it would mean either we’ve turned down the chance to re-sign him or he’s rejected us. Either way, it would be heartbreaking.

I’m not really sure what to make of it all just yet. Hopefully this is just the media adding 2 + 2 and getting 5 again, but it’s safe to say I’ll be absolutely gutted if Cesc joins United. Seeing RVP go there was bad enough but watching Fabs line-up alongside him at United next season would be unbearable.

How would you feel if Fabregas ended up joining United? Do you think there’s any chance it will happen?

He’s probably reject Arsenal because we didn’t do for him or RVP what they are trying to do now. If we had done the right thing for Robin then we wouldn’t be in this position now and maybe Cesc would have jumped at the chance to come back. Now we’re busy trying to put out fires as it seems we aren’t the best deal for the good players (Rooney) excluded that we have approached thus far. We will probably end up with fire sale players

    Hey Pete

How do you know what Arsenal are busy doing? Do you actually know, or are you just reiterating the light rumors you’ve read and taken them to heart.

You really need to separate your head from the rubbish you read; especially, during the summer.

If Ed Woodward left the tour, don’t you think it’d be much more likely to be regarding the Rooney situation? Or to wrap up Garay and possibly push for Fellaini?

arsenal’s aim is to make money, not win trophies, and the immediate objective is to sell tickets. This is nothing new as it has been the same for the last eight years. why? so the board members pocket as much as possible without being footballing people. #No trophies since dein.

Im a man utd fan for the last decade and though united a desparate for a world class midfielder ,I wouldn’t like fabregas to join us as I hav always associated fabregas (even though hes now at barca)with arsenal even more than van persie.he is arsenals player and it just doesn’t feel right jus like if ronaldo joins man city i’ll feel bad.

    What a load of bull.
Why would Barcelona sell Fab’s class for only 12.5M? (they only get 50% with 50% going to Arsenal.
Laughable. The only team they would be interested is selling to is Arsenal.

Why will they be interested in selling to arsenal only? They’ll still get half no matter who they sell him to.

The days of arsenal being great are long gone.
Arsene Wenger has taken down this club ad he once made it great.
Now the old arrogant stubborn fool is happy making money for himself and the corrupt board while blind foolish fans brainwashedby nnostalgia clap like robots watching this club become a joke.

Let’s watch another dry few seasons till they say we were right and arsene must go.

Crap clubs are becoming competitive and top clubs rearm their squads.
We watch, sell the best, watch our best beg to leave and clap for fourth.

Arsenal are a joke till Wenger leaves and flops and pigs like Ramsey and others get permanent injuries. Cos no other way arsene will stop em playing.
    Hopefully.
