Mixed Injury News On Wilshere And Vermaelen

By on July 9, 2013

Mixed injury news today Gooners with captain(?) Thomas Vermaelen set to miss the pre-season tour of Asia due to a back complaint but Jack Wilshere is training well and looking good to be in contention for the season opener next month.

According to the Mirror, Vermaelen aggravated a long-standing problem while on international duty with Belgium last month and it’s feared he may have cracked a bone in his lower back.

The 27-year-old has always struggled with back injuries but they’ve been kept under control with a strict training and stretching routines, but it looks as though they may not have been followed while he was away with his country. The defender is now expected to be left behind when the squad fly out to the far east later this week and he’s also a major doubt to be fit in time for the start of the new season.

Cynics have claimed the injury is an excuse to leave TV5 behind so he can sort out a move away from the club, in a similar fashion to what happened in the past when both Cesc Fabregas and Robin van Persie missed our pre-season trips due to mystery ‘injuries’ only to be sold while we were away.

I’m not sure about that with Vermaelen. He seems settled in London and his wife’s due to give birth to their first child, so I can’t see him wanting to leave any time soon. Plus all the talk has been that he’s ready and willing to fight for his first team place, so I think he’ll still be with us next season.

There is also some good news on Jack Wilshere, who is back in full training and is showing no signs of discomfort following a minor operation in May to replace a troublesome screw in his ankle. Hopefully that’s resolved the problem once and for all and we have a fully-fit Wilshere to call upon next season.

I don’t seem to understand Wenger a again cos teams that are winning are busy in the transfer market but Arsenal are constantly linked with plethora of players without sinning any. Pls prof should sign players.

Arsene Wenger makes me sick, he constantly makes the same mistakes in the transfer market..Why does he take so long to finalise transfer deals? Why does he allways want to have long drawn out negotiations, focusing on getting players cheaper than their value? Is Wenger stupid enough to start the season with being prepared, for the 3rd season in a row?
