Done Deal! Arsenal Confirm Signing Of Exciting French Striker
Finally we’ve confirmed the signing of a new striker. No, unfortunately it’s not Gonzalo Higuain but it is exciting French youngster Yaya Sanogo.
Most Gooners have known that Sanogo was coming to the Emirates for weeks but in true Arsenal style, we’ve taken forever to officially confirm the deal. The club finally announced the move on Arsenal.com this evening, revealing that the 20-year-old has signed a long-term contract and arrives on a free transfer having seen his contract with Auxerre expire – although the Ligue 1 club will be due compensation of around £450,000.
A statement on the clubs official website read:
Arsenal Football Club is delighted to announce that French youth international Yaya Sanogo has joined on a long-term contract.
The deal is subject to the completion of formal registration processes, with Sanogo joining up with his new team-mates after his participation in the Under-20 World Cup.
Sanogo has had his fair share of injury problems that have restricted him to just 24 appearances for the French outfit. However, he’s managed an impressive 11 goals during that time and is also putting in some encouraging displays for the French team at the under-20 World Cup – scoring 2 goals in 3 games so far to help the French qualify for the knockout stages.
After completing the deal, Arsène Wenger said:
“Sanogo is a good young signing for us. He has shown that he has potential with his recent performances for Auxerre and also for the France Under-20 side. We are looking forward to Yaya joining us and continuing his promising development.”
The transfer is still subject to the completion of the formal registration process and Sanogo will link up with the rest of the Arsenal squad after he’s finished playing at the Under-20 World Cup.
Welcome to Arsenal Yaya! Your not the big-name signing we crave, but hopefully you’ll prove to be another shrewd purchase from Wenger.

It’s only the first day of the transfer window. Relax and stop reading to much into the media spin.
Many more top, top signings to follow no doubt.

He maybe an exciting player. But is he the answer to Arsenal’s problems. Results are what matters not exciting soccer. Spain maybe the best passing team but were swept aside by Brazil.
If another season passes by and the gunners can’t challenge it will be another waste of time especially if Wenger doesn’t get the fellas who can up the antefor the gunners.

I don’t know why everyone is so down about us signing a 20 year old?
man united have won titles with plenty of 20 year olds in their side. they have also just spent £15m on a 20 year old championship player.
people’s moaning is always money related. lets see how zaha and sanogo compare next season and we will see then who got the better deal.

Walcott has bee n with Arsenal for eight years. When he was signed great things were expected. Similarly with Vela/Brendthener,Denislson,etc.
When these guys really deliver it will be great. Frankly the last eight seasons have been very disappointing. Songa could be another one o f those hit and miss signings. It’s all very well to prepare for the future but ,imho, the present matters more than the future. If Wenger can’t deliver,he shd be off instead of wasting more time with his kid buys.

Here we go AGAIN. Year after year our hopes built up with the thought of some real talent coming in. Year after year the dithering, penny pinching and procrastination takes over and the quality players are snapped up by other clubs with real ambition. At the end of the transfer window we parade yet another couple of no name prospects who inevitably are sent out on loan. As the days trickle by and all we get is another young starlet, one can only sigh in resignation and accept the fact that little has and will change. I’m so close to drawing my almost 40 year passion with The Arsenal to a close and turning my back on football. It’s greed, it’s avarice and lack of loyalty exemplified by the obscenity that is Chelsea and the new financial thugs, Manchester City. Try just ONCE Wenger to think of your fans not your board and their pockets…..one very disgruntled almost ex-gooner.

I like all players Sanogo will be given the opportunity to prove his skills in the preseaon games!
Let’s not be hasty in judging any player even before he takes to the pitch!!
I am certain this is only the beginning of a few GREAT signings!
