Just When You Thought Barca Couldn’t Get Any Lower…

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C36LisjvNuA&feature=player_embedded]

After Arsenal’s season was finished, I decided to wait until after the World Cup was over to begin posting again. This was mostly because there are 500 Arsenal blogs out there and 2 false transfer rumors making the rounds each day. So, now the World Cup is over and what is the big story in ArsenalLand? The video above. Oh, I’m sure you’ve already seen it. Hell, you’ve probably gagged a few times while watching it or even kicked a stray cat or two afterwards.

Arseblog pretty much nailed it this morning when it comes to my reaction to the video, so I will keep it short and sweet. This is NOT “a joke,” no matter what the Barca fanboys say. I can’t imagine what could possibly be a bigger act of disrespect against our club than this – players who, at the behest of their club, have been trying to destabilize our captain, put him in an impossible position by forcing their own club’s shirt on him during such a public spectacle. I, for one, am absolutely fed up with our beloved club, Arsenal, whose tea lady has more integrity than the entire Barca organization, being treated like this.

It just goes to show that Barca and his “friends” could care less about Cesc. Real friends would not have put him in that kind of position. We all watched as Cesc rode the bench for most of the World Cup behind Busquets and Pedro. How much different would it be at Barcelona? I have to think that Cesc has surely considered this over the last couple of weeks.

To Barcelona, Cesc is a trophy more than a player. They want him back merely so they can say, “We got him back.” I read one Barca fanboy who said that it would be nice to have Cesc come off the bench when they had injury problems. THAT is exactly how Barca view Cesc. At the moment, he is only “necessary” in a public relations sense.

I’m sure it would be one huge lovefest for the first few weeks but the longer he sat on the bench or just played a supporting role, the less the fanboys would care. And in a month or two, he would just be another non-starter that Barca fans would complain about. That’s all. Meanwhile, we all know how he has been treated at Arsenal by club and supporters alike.

And none of this even touches on the incredible pomposity of Barca’s behavior during the close season, sending out dictates in the press regarding what they will be willing to pay for Cesc. They have only grown more indignant as they have come to realize that, unlike them, Arsenal are not in a bad financial situation and cannot be bought off by borrowed money. This close season has shown the true differences between Arsenal and Barcelona as organizations. Arsenal try to protect the integrity of the club and its players at all cost. Barca whore out their players, broke transfer rules, conduct their business in the media.

And now, when they realize that Cesc is not willing to demand a transfer, we get the “We’re skint” story. Because, according to Barca, Arsenal should bow down to whatever Barcelona wants. It’s just symptomatic of Blatter and Platini’s protection of Spanish clubs at the expense of English clubs. They looked the other way when Real used similar tactics to unsettle Ronaldo. The message from FIFA and UEFA is clear: “Barca and Real can do whatever they want.” Meanwhile, English clubs are undergoing intensive investigations over signing youth players.

Barcelona fanboys speak about Cesc “coming home,” but I can’t help but think that it’s kind of like a boy being forced to go live with relatives he hasn’t seen since he was a little boy and so doesn’t know very well, if at all. Arsenal and its supporters love Cesc; Barcelona and its supporters only love the idea of Cesc.

Meanwhile Spain did bugger-all until Cesc got on the pitch. His cameo was more effective than an entire match from Xavi, Pedro, Biscuits (that’s right, his name is Biscuits. Because he’s a little girl, you see), and the rest of the flopping Barca tools. I can’t wait to see you back on the discussion board when Barca run out of money completely. Which reminds me, go tell your deadbeat club they can forget Cesc, and still need to pay us the 31 million pounds owed for both Hleb and Henry.

Damn straight. We should say, “We wouldn’t even consider dealing with you stiffs again until we are paid the money you owe us. That’s 30m for Hleb and Henry and another 60m for Fabregas. When you have 90m, call us and then we’ll CONSIDER talking…”

I dont see why not. He plays like xavi, but scores a tonne of goals ON TOP OF the assists. He could get into the team ahead of keita (who is also a very good player, I know) with iniesta playing up front.
Doesnt matter anyway, barca cant afford him, and despite the attempts of the barca players to get him to sign, cescs desire to leave is not so strong that he will push for it against the club where he made his name.

Great article and absolutely to the point.

Please join in putting pressure on Arsenal to stand up to the scumbags. Enough is enough. Only Arsenal FC can insist that FIFA take action. All supporters should please write to Arsenal demanding that they go to FIFA now!

I did e-mail Arsenal today under the heading Barcelona disrespect..they did reply by e-mailing to me their statement of June 2nd that Cesc is not for sale…that isn’t enough for me. The Arsenal must bring these blatent attempts of tapping up to the highest level. Iniesta is at it today, following the same as many others before him. Cesc do you want to join a bankrupt club to be a permanent sub.????????????????

I emailed this to the club today:

As a long-time Arsenal supporter and blogger, I want the club to know that I, and many, supporters are extremely concerned about the disrespect consistently shown this club by Barcelona. As supporters, we appreciate the dignity which Arsenal Football Club has always carried itself. However, many of us feel that we appear to be accepting this disrespect and that it is hurting the image of the club we all love so dearly. We would hope that the club would be more proactive in protecting its name and interests by either making a statement deploring the disrespectful conduct of Barcelona Football Club and its players or, at the very least, lodging a formal complaint against them.

      Respectfully,
      ArsenalStation
      http://arsenalstation.wordpress.com)

I would encourage everyone else to respectfully voice your displeasure to the club over the whole issue.

No one “stole” anyone. Arsenal paid Barcelona for a 16-year old kid that they had no serious plans for. Barcelona were fully compensated so drop the whole bullshit “you stole cesc” bit that you read somewhere else and are now repeating here. It’s only now that they realized Arsene knew their own youth player better than they did and after Arsene has put in all the work over the last 7 years turning him into one of the best midfielders in the world that they want him back.

          • ArsenalStation

            July 13, 2010 at 7:28 pm

And fuck that whole DNA bullshit, too. No player is even close to half-formed at 16 years old, still sitting in a youth team with no first-team experience. Cesc is the player he is today because of Arsene and Arsenal. Plain and simple.

barcabwoi – He is good enough to get into the Barca 1st team. As he was good enough to get into the Spanish 1st team when given the chance. He can make the short and long passes that Xavi can make except Cesc isn’t afraid to shoot, which couldn’t be said for goal shy, Xavi.

There, I said it – Cesc > Xavi

  6. Gunner boy 87

    July 13, 2010 at 10:26 am

To be honest I think it’s time he went. We can do perfectly well without him. We can always go down the usual route of buying a young French player to take the place of an already established player. I think if we can get £15m+ it will be a massive bonus.
    See you later Mr Overrated

    • ArsenalStation

      July 13, 2010 at 10:44 am

I think £15m would be ridiculously low. it’s obvious the club doesn’t even consider £30m a “real” offer. I, personally, would accept nothing less than £45-50m for him. First, he has a long-term contract. Second, he is only 23. How Barca can claim £35m is a fair price for Yaya Toure while at the same time saying they won’t pay more than that Cesc shows Barca’s true opinion of him. They value him the same as a player they no longer wanted and found surplus to requirements. If I was Cesc, I would find that insulting if not enlightening.

La Liga is a joke of a league. It’s two teams and that’s it. Let’s see how Real or Barca would get by dealing with the restrictions placed on English clubs from a joint television deal to youth-signing restrictions and strict work permits. Once Spain repeals their tax break on footballers, then we’ll see how much everyone wants to go there.

      That’s humiliation.

      • Yid87

        July 13, 2010 at 11:16 am

I think humiliation is not winning a trophy in…….. I really can’t remember. I’ll have to look round your stadium to see when the dates stop. At least we are a club who are progressing, you’re just stagnating and your selling your best players. That’s how a club should run.
We’re on the way up, building an amazing new stadium, and have up and coming BRITISH talent. Players like Danny Rose. You may remember him…….

Really? I didn’t think the stadium plans had been approved?!
Carling cup winners, are you really proud of that? Sad case.
Up and coming, more like soon to be down and out, freak seasons from King (cripple) and Gomes, just wait til (if more like lol) you QUALIFY for the Champions league and your playing more than 1 game a week. Your team of losers will all be to tired to play and you’ll end the season midtable. As usual.

        • ArsenalStation

          July 13, 2010 at 11:29 am

          Humiliation is:

…winning the Carling Cup and acting like it’s the Champions League.

…celebrating a 4th place finish like you won the League.

…releasing a DVD of a Carling Cup semifinal.

…trawling other clubs’ blogs because your club doesn’t have any of its own worth mentioning.

…knowing that your rivals have a better stadium, bigger fanbase, and better English youth players.

…what Spuds feel every year when Arsenal fans celebrate St. Totteringham’s Day in February.

…chasing after over-age former Gunners and being turned down flat.

I could go on, but why bother?

          • Yid87

            July 13, 2010 at 11:41 am

…What English players? Walcott? He’s done well hasn’t he?
… Chasing after over-aged former Gunners and being turned down flat? So you didn’t try and go for Viera last year then?
… Winning the Carling Cup is better than no cup at all

Oh and going back to the article:
… HUMILIATION IS YOUR BEST PLAYER WEARING SOMEONE ELSES SHIRT!!!!!!!!

          • Roy

            July 13, 2010 at 11:50 am

Humiliation is having a has been washed up player linked with the club, only to say “hang on, no way”
            Rivaldo, Kluivert… That’s sad!
As for no English players, well we all saw how well the England team got on at the world cup. Worst ever I believe. Well done!

          • Arsenal Station

            July 13, 2010 at 12:18 pm

I’d take Wilshere or Lansbury any day over any English kid in the Spuds setup. Danny Rose??!!? Give me a break.

Arsene never had any real interest in signing Vieira. If he had, he wouldn’t have gone to Man City.

Winning the Carling Cup is only important to teams who have no chance to win anything else.

Humiliation is no one wanting your “best” player.

@manc What does “big club” even mean? Is a club that finishes 3rd or 4th in the toughest league in the world consistently over more than 10 years not a “big club?” Is one of only three clubs in Europe to make the Champions League every year for the last 13 years not a “big club?” Is a club with one of the top three best managers and stadiums in the world not a “big club?” Were United not a “big club” for the three years they didn’t win the league or when they weren’t playing in the Champions League? Were United not a “big club” when their best player signed for Madrid? If Arsenal are not a “big club” then there must only 2 or 3 “big clubs” in the whole world. Arsenal did not become a “big club” in only five years and they certainly would not become “not a big club” in only five years. If there is such a thing as a “big club” it certainly is not only because of results. Look at our stadium, our managers, our players, our training and youth setups and our results over the last 20 years and THEN tell me Arsenal aren’t a so-called “big club” with a straight face.

Let’s see how you fuck off when you’re trying to compete in both the Champions League, and the Premier League. The nice thing about Arsenal is that we can enjoy and celebrate our past. The past that we’ve been able to see and experience fondly in our lifetimes. 5 years without is much better than 50. And even your best season you still finished behind us at one of our worst season. Progress? You’re still in our shadows where you always will be, and your new stadium will still be a second rate rip off of ours.

You are right in saying it was not a joke. People are referring to the shirt incident as a prank. It wasn’t – it was a statement. It’s almost as if anyone connected with Barcelona believes they can do what they like so they just keep digging away at Arsenal showing us less & less respect with everyday that passes. It’s no good waiting for UEFA to do something – they have to receive an official complaint first. It’s time Arsenal fought back instead of just taking this shit!

There is no way Barca will get punished for it. They didn’t put the shirt on his back. Fair enough their players did, but that’s got nothing to do with the club. It’s just the the players. Also their can’t be taping him up if Arsenal are saying “you can have him for X amount”. If they are offering him them to the club then of course they are going to want to speak to him. This whole thing isn’t exactly a shock as we’ve all known for a while that he’ll eventually want this move, so let him go. He’s given us a good few years away from his home country. I can see why everyone is so annoyed but it’s his decision what he happens as well as the clubs and none of this Judas rubbish either. He’s done amazing things for us, Lets face it, Barca are a bigger club anyway and of course he would want to go there. Name a player who wouldn’t?
      Cheers Fab and good luck

Please, you dont get anywhere in football or in life if you constantly plays by the rules,i do remember us doing something similar when we got Wiltord.Fab have been blabbing on about how he wanted to join Barca during the entire world cup campaign and Pep wants him there really isnt any way back now, will we want a half Fab coming back,i think not,it is only a matter of time before Barca comes up with the filthy luke.

i hate this new idea that we are the morale high ground of football. When in school the one who always took the morale high ground and told the teacher what kind of mischiefs we were up to always got beat up in the playground, one day he punched back and we never dared touch him againt .The only way Barca understands this is if we start bully them, the only way to stop a bully is to bully back.

It’s time Arsenal came out and gave it to Platini, that fat bastard Blatter and Barcelona with both barrels. Both Platini and Blatter hate English clubs and show nothing but contempt for the EPL. It’s time that EPL stepped up and showed some balls and stood up to these wankers and point out that the whole Cesc situation is a blatent breach of FIFA’s pathetic rules.

How is it a breach of fifas rules? He obviously wants to go and perhaps he should. No point a player playing who doesn’t want to be there and will only show resentment towards his team and manager

It is a breach because clubs are not allowed to contact a player who is under contract to another club. Barca have admitted to speaking with Fabregas, and his father confirmed that they had contacted him. That is an ABSOLUTE breach of rules.

I’m sorry who is Rocky? I remember a Danny Rose do you? I had more than a drink that night that’s for sure. If we didn’t win that match, we wouldn’t be in the Champions League so thanks for that.

Arsenal need to know that we are not going to take this behaviour, I do not oppose selling cesc if he wants to go but the way we are being treated by these spanish c*ck suckers is disgraceful and if we continue to let them do this then we are nothing less than victims.

And as the song goes “if you tolerate this then you children will be next”

The only way we can let Arsenal know that we will not be happy with a sale to barca is through the correct channels.

I will make it easy for you

    Arsenal contact FORM

Let arsenal know we are not happy!!!

61, never again, 61, never again… Who’s living in the past now, ladies?

          July 14, 2010 at 1:50 pm

No one mentioned 61 other than you. We’re not living in the past. We won a trophy 2 years ago, fair enough it’s the League Cup but it beats sod all in 5 years.
We are progressing. Getting into the top 4 and Champions League. Yeah that is a big deal as it shows our progression. By not winning a trophy in 5 years and not moving up in the table and selling your best players doesn’t show progression just stagnation or even getting worse.
Enjoy your “succession” in the top 4 whilst it lasts because we are building a team and bringing in new talent not getting rid of our best players.
Enjoy being made mugs of at a national level by Barca Woolwich Wonderers
