Hey Martin, Shut the F*** Up!

By on January 30, 2010

Three days later and still Martin O’Neill’s insecurities are on view for everyone to see. He has blown way out of proportion, with the media’s help, a throw-away comment from Wenger after Wednesday’s match. Let’s look at what he has said:

It is interesting, the point he makes, that nobody can play football in the manner that they do. If he believes that, good luck to him.

Wenger never said anything of the sort. Now who is being “absurd” and “ridiculous?”

What we are doing here, and I don’t care what anybody says, we have flair players picking the ball up, attacking.

If you believe that, Martin, then good luck to you.

He has an opinion on everything. There is not a subject in this world at this minute, political, religious, anything, that he does not have an opinion on. I really don’t mind, I just don’t want it shoved down my throat.

I think most people have opinions on a lot of things. Otherwise, you are just a bore. Only rarely has Wenger ever made comments about politics and religion. So it would be hard for them to be “shoved down” your throat. O’Neill’s near-psychotic reaction is even more questionable than Wenger’s original comment about Villa’s tactics in a single match. The media sought to portray it as an evaluation of Villa’s overall style, which it was not.

When he talks about this particular Arsenal side, and teams going out deliberately to kick them, nobody does that. Manchester United wouldn’t do that.

Nobody goes out to kick Arsenal? Now who’s being an idiot. Perhaps he missed Fuller’s pre-match interview before the Stoke FA Cup tie. And anyone who saw Darren Fletcher’s performance at Old Trafford earlier the season can say that he did not go out there with the intent to physically disrupt Arsenal’s attack.

You can get carried away with your own importance, you really can. Sometimes he does. He has made a great contribution to the game here, but he is not on a different planet.

Who is getting carried away with their own importance? A man who simply gave a post-match interview or one who is still talking about one sentence from someone else’s post-match comments three days later? O’Neill’s protesting has the feeling about it of the teenager who feels the need to tell everyone he is not gay, because he is.

And as far as O’Neill is concerned, Wenger is on a different planet. How many trophies have you won in England, Martin? How many FA Cups? How many Doubles? How many times has your side gone unbeaten for an entire season? Or set any record at all? You’re biggest achievement in English football is finishing sixth. Like I said, a different planet.

He is a very skilful manager – well done him, but he has another record, like he has had something like 99 sendings-off this year, and 98 of them weren’t his fault. That is the problem.

That’s very interesting because Arsenal actually haven’t had one sending-off this season.

What he wants to do is try and point out to everyone who is under his spell that Arsenal are the only delightful team around. When you are looking for that, you can spot a weakness. You are trying to get an excuse ready if you cannot compete with Manchester United and Chelsea. That is the point.

“Under his spell?” O’Neill sounds like a bitter old man. Arsene has never said anything of the sort and has many times praised teams that have been beaten Arsenal by playing football. In fact, his comments about Villa were, I believe, meant to be praiseworthy in that they came out and executed an effective tactical plan.

The media have fueled this nonsense. The Daily Mail started an article by saying, “Martin O’Neill launched a furious tirade at Arsene Wenger on Friday as the row over Aston Villa’s tactics intensified.” What row? Arsene hasn’t said anything since the comment. It’s been Martin O’Neill having a conversation with himself, with the media cheering him on. Then the caption of a photo in the piece reads: “Unhappy: Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger complained about Villa’s tactic.” How ridiculous is that?

Personally, I think O’Neill’s reactions have shown him in a very bad light-far worse than anything Arsene said and the fact that he is still talking about it three days later reveal O’Neill’s insecurities about not being able to compete with United, Chelsea, or Arsenal over more than the first few months of a season. Get over yourself, Martin, or, at least, shut the fuck up.

The term’ touched a nerve’ comes to mind.
Wenger doesn’t make personal comments; it’s not his style, but over the last three days he has been subjected to constant personal attacks from both the Villa manager and one of his team; this is unacceptable. Isn’t this where the term ‘bringing the game into disrepute’ should be levied? Where are our defenders of the game’s integrity when they should be bringing a charge against O’Neill and his loud mouthed also-rans? If he wants to talk tactics or review the game, that’s fine, but this is personal abuse, and entirely unnaceptable.

he is trying to hide the fact Villa haven’t scored for four games their worst spell in nine years, O’Neil is trying to take the attention away he is just an average manager, and he has won the league cup twice in England. It’s the papers trying to stir shit up again

I think your spot on mate. It seems all suffering managers do, it`s a technique as you say to rant about something preferibly AW so as the press blow it out of proportion and thier own downfalls get hidden in the smoke. Only what is happenning with the aid of the press is, (because they love AW so much and having absolutly no tranfser news to report) they have got hold of O`niels story and pumped it so much that it`s making o`niel look like a bigger cunt than he is. The press and media are Arsenal`s worst enemy. There is not a manager in the Premier League capable of producing the talent and beauty of the game as Arsene has with such a low budget. The downside is that it does not always bring trophies.

Let’s look at the facts. Aston Villa played at home and had 1 effort on target, with Almunia making only two interventions all night (the other one being a diving stop from a cross goal header from Ashley Young. Arsenal had, if I counted correctly, 6 goal bound efforts, 2 of which hit the woodwork. Wengers point is valid. While Agbonlahor and Yound did a lot of work by running into channels on to long passes, albeit not Bolton style Garryowens, they did their best work in their constant harrying of defenders and midfielders in possession. That’s all very well but they then had to double up in order to support the Lardarse Formerly Known as Heskey, from whom they were often separated by 30 to 40 yards. Efficient, certainly Martin. But hardly likely to cause too much of a stir. Possibly accounting for the hundreds of empty seats clearly visible on the TV screening……

Martin O’Neill cannot analyse his team’s performance in the same way as Wenger due to the constrainsts he faces as a result of his brain size.

His teams, run, work hard, play with passion, cross it for a tall big man. Not bad, in fact they are punching above their heights. But really, O’Neill, a cunt like you will never manage a team like Arsenal, Manure of the Chavs. Its cause your philosophy is too … basic.

There is obviously pressure mounting on the villa boss. he hasn’t had the fancy ride he enjoyed last term and so fans may be getting impatient. Why else would he be making a muppet of himself like Phil Brown last year.

Comical stuff isn’t it. Look forward to this being put to Wenger and him cutting O’Neill down with one semi-interested remark. Why do british managers get so overly upset by anything they possibly can with Arsene Wenger? Inferiority complex.

O’Neill seems like a considered bloke during interviews but you only have to look at the amount of touchline bust-ups he has been involved in to see what a total knob he really is. O’Neill’s teams ALWAYS play long-ball football. It’s a fact. There is no judgement in that statement but it is absolutely accurate and the statistics prove it.

“intent to physically disrupt Arsenal’s attack.”

    What does this mean????????????????

Come on you arsenal fans are deluded, if another team doesnt sit back and watch you play and try to compete you label it “intent to physically disrupt Arsenal’s attack.”

    Pathetic brain washed Arsene fans.

No, teams like stoke, bolton etc try to overpower us physically.
Its the truth and theyv admitted it. They try to “rough [us] up”.
This usualy involves giving away a ridiculous amount of fouls. I believe in the last game against stoke they had 22 fouls on us and not one booking.
You can play “destructive” tactics fairly. Basically just mark our players tightly, nick the ball away and counter-attack. It’s what most teams in the division try to do, it has worked against us many times, and that’s fine. Its when they start going for the over-the-top fouls, and dont receive bookings that I get annoyed.
If teams can stop us playing fairly (as many teams have done in recent seasons in all honesty – villa did to a large extent last week), then I have no issue with it. But the notion that its ok to “even things up” by “roughing us up” is frankly sick. If arsenal is *that much* better than you that the only way to compete is to try to injure our players, then yes! you should just accept defeat. You arent good enough for this league.

      January 30, 2010 at 9:25 am

Come on Arseman and John… you know what it means. You must have read or heard about it Ricardo Fuller’s comments and you probably saw Darren Fletcher throwing his boot all over the place a few months ago, even going so far as to get away with a foul in the box on Arshavin.

What I am saying is that some teams in this league that can’t compete by playing football, resort to caveman tactics. That’s not speculation, it’s fact. And it’s a sad thing for the league because who wants to watch a league where if a top 4 side is playing anyone outside the top 6 all you see is one side trying to break down a 10 or 11-man defense for 90 minutes?

    • goonergerry

      January 30, 2010 at 9:38 am

You know very well what it means-it means that predominantly Northern teams who set out to defeat opponents by physical intimidation-who dont think they have any obligation to entertain the public- who aim to beat more skilfull sides by kicking them. There is a place for the physical side of the game and there is a line between fair and unfair physical play the problem is you lot haven’t a clue where the line is and use insults to try to justify thuggery.

Can I just say, thank you so much for this post! Spot on. I was actually watching arsene post match interview for the villa game and thought to myself it’s good to know that arsene was COMPLIMENTARY and not blaming others (like he tends to do) but ourselves.

And then all this insults from MON begins. what the f*ck is he on about! It wasn’t an insult, it wasnt arsene complaining or moaning but MON became this paranoid little man making assumptions when there was nothing wrong with what arsene said. I suggest people really read what arsene said, he was being nice!

Arsene’s post match interview for chelsea.. now that was whiny and cringe worthy, not this one! Really weird! Actually after that chelsea match onwards arsene’s interview have really improved and not so much complaining, he was being more reasonable and objective.

its great being an arsenal fan. when you u see the abuse our team gets and the backing from the media and other fellow managers it just shows how ahead of the game arsenal are. teams see class so instead of following the blue print they knock the system. im a proud gunner. i believe chelsea are a great side with an intelligent manager and they got alot of success out of the long ball and ugly football; united have alot of backing from the media and others ,could be why o neal is making such a fuss. they do play long ball and just like last year when they were doing well the villa thickle fans turned on agbon and they flopped.

Nice article, good to see someone taking the fences against this media&MON attacks on Wenger. When I read the post match interview I thought Wenger gave Villa credit for their work and playing to their strenghts, and the next thing you read is MON crying in the media about Wenger “attack” and “insults”, but the only insult I’ve read, is the one comming out of O’Neil. I think above all that it is that track-suit-smurf that owes Wenger an apology!

What is it with the british managers and their self importance, whining and hatred towards Wenger? Is it because he revolutionized the english game, and made the clubs aware of the world of talent sorounding the island? That foreign managers could take the clubs to the next level? Everytime there is an “incident” regarding Arsenal, the media and the “offended” british manager crying for weeks and launching attack after attack on Wenger and Arsenal, and labeling them as cheats, whiners and violent villians! Do you realy think Phil Brown would have let the “Rio-punch” gone unnoticed in the media had it been from an Arsenalplayer? Hell, had that happend in our meeting back in december, we would still be hearing about it!

MON is crying about Wenger getting excuses ready in case we don’t win the title, but it seems all the excuses are comming from him, he can’t stand the pressure of a top-4-placing… it’s getting to him, and he and Villa are cracking up again(at least it hope so)!

May he dress up in his finest (track)suit and make a pose for his statue in the mediawhiners hall of shame together with Phil Brown, Sam Allardyce, Mick McCarthy, Alan Curbishley and Tony Pullis

ohhh what a surprise now we have the fucktards on sky sports newd saturday footie show bangin on about Wengers ‘lack of respect for all other clubs and arsenal’ by saying villa hit a few long balls.

    ha ha ha ha ha

1 throw away comment in a post match interview where he actually praised Villa – and 3 days later its morphed into this. I do love the reactionary media.

‘its Wenger trying to detract from Arsenals below par performance’ they say – what about the fact that Villa havent scored once in 4 games and O’Neil trying that tack eh? Maybe try play a bit more on the ground and youl score – you have talented enough players for it – instead Heskey gets a game all the tiume – man i hate Heskey – fair fucks to him for forginga career as a striker without actually being one

I can undestand why O’Nil is going hard on Arsene.
The game was Villa fourth PL game without scoring a goal.
“An english efficient football” could be teached in football school to describe O’ Nil teams. Arsene’s subtle tactical insignt give our manager a hint on how to get easily a clean shit against O’Nil
teams. When you keep possession and refuse to attack without keeping the shape of your team, anybody can beat Villa.
I remember UEFA CUP final against Porto of the special one.

Villa will finish behind Spuds, Liverpool and Man City.
Their place in this league will be 7 or 8th.
Wenger don’t like ONIL so he told the world how to beat his team.
    I would be furious.
    Hilarious!

Last season in the FA Cup I actually watched Donny Rovers outplay Villa in the 0-0 draw. Proper footballing sides pass the ball around on the floor. Those which cannot- and there are a lot – do that a bit but mainly play another game called Kick and Rush but call themselves a Football Club because it sounds better. This only happens in Britain. Foreigners play football and although they find watching Kick and Rush an exciting change tend to look down on British players who don’t seem to be able to control the ball and keep it on the floor much. MON’s mentor would see Villa as a kick and rush team, tell him to get the bloody ball down on the grass and keep it there. MON knows this and it is the truth that hurts. Wenger made a valid point and MON gives a congressional lecture and talks more rubbish than the Lord has ever done!! Great stuff!!

    It’s all so bizarre!

Wenger praises Villa, then martin o’moron gets his little frilly panties in a twist, what a complete mullet!

LOL, and then you see all the intellectually challenged little englanders who seem incapable of reading what Wenger ACTUALLY said, climbing on their high horses and pontificating like the imbecilic little retards that they are.

Being the sceptic that I am, I find it interesting that little martin panty-twist is going completely off the loony scale over nothing at all just when we are about to face manusa.

Gee, I wonder whether our little panty-clad martin isn’t carrying out fungubum’s bidding in an effort to disrupt us because he think if he sucks fungusbum off then maybe he’ll get a comendation for the manus job when fungusbum retires?
