AdeByeWhore Insults Arsenal Supporters

Ade

Emmanuel Adebayor gave an interview with Henry Winter yesterday where he described the genesis of his feud with Nicklas Bendtner and insulted Arsenal supporters. Here it is, in his own idiotic, despicable words:

I have never been a bad influence in the dressing room. I had a little difficult moment with Nicklas Bendtner.

There was a rule at Arsenal where no one is allowed to come into the dressing room with trainers or house shoes on. I cannot understand why Nicklas came every day with his shoes on.

[Adebayor confronts Bendtner:] “Nicklas, you are a footballer, I am a footballer. Maybe I am better than you, maybe you are better than me but you have to respect everyone. There are rules saying you cannot come into the dressing-room with your house shoes. Take them off.

He never took them off and things started from there. I cannot accept that. Even if that happened tomorrow at City, I would fight with somebody.

The Boss jumped on me. ‘Why me?’ I said. ‘Nicklas is 20, he has to do the things that [William] Gallas, Robin Van Persie and Cesc Fabregas are doing.

Nicklas had a very easy route [into football]. He had the chance to be in the Arsenal Academy, the chance to be an international for Denmark. Football doesn’t stop there. You are young, you have to learn. No matter what quality you have, you have to listen to people, let people help you to be good.

I was not born with a golden spoon in my mouth. I left Africa at 15, came to Europe [with Metz] and it was very difficult but I knew if I listened I would be better. That’s what pushed me to where I am today.

People in my country love me. I represent my country very well. My family are very proud of me. But I can do more. That’s why I am always fighting to improve and be one of the best strikers in the world. I am fighting in games to see how many goals I can score, how many passes I can make, how many tackles, how many times I am coming back to help my team-mates.

If Ronaldo had gone to Manchester United and thought ‘I’m good’ he would not have become the best player in the world. He worked with the United players, who helped make him big. Nicklas just thinks he can make himself big.

So, because Nicklas would not take his shoes off in the locker room and because he wasn’t born in a poor African village, this is why Adebayor eventually came to despise him so much that he assaulted his own teammate on the pitch. Had that occurred on the street, Adebayor would have been arrested.

I am sorry, but if that is not being a bad influence, I don’t know what is. Adebayor’s whole story is that Bendtner should have been following the examples of the older players but I think we can all agree that we are glad he doesn’t follow Adebayor’s example and go around assaulting his own teammates. The worst part is he is just as willing right now to “fight with somebody” at City if they wore shoes where they weren’t supposed to.

Adebayor claims Bendtner had an “easy route” into football. He makes it sound as if Bendtner didn’t have to do anything to get into the Arsenal Academy or the Denmark side. Neither a place at Arsenal or Denmark were just handed to Bendtner. He earned both through hard work and dedication.

It’s obvious that Adebayor was extremely jealous of Bendtner and after scoring only one more goal than the young Dane, knew that Bendtner was right on his heels and coming close to taking his spot in the first XI. Adebayor chose the easy way out and went for money and a guaranteed spot and now he wants to try to paint Bendtner as some kind of spoiled brat while he is the hero fighting for shoe justice in dressing rooms everywhere.

As if all this wasn’t enough, we then get this insult to thousands of loyal and fanatic Arsenal supporters:

Arsenal have a lot of fans who are not fans. Arsenal have fans from America and Jamaica. Today they are Arsenal fans, tomorrow they will be Liverpool fans and after tomorrow they will be Manchester United fans.

The real problem was that Arsenal have players who are not players. Arsenal have players from Africa. Today they are Arsenal players, tomorrow they will be Man City players, and after tomorrow they will be (fill in other third-rate club) players. You twit!

As an American Arsenal supporter of over 10 years, I cannot tell you how absolutely insulting I find this characterization to be. City do not have fans outside of England because nobody gives a fuck about them and they’ve never done anything that would make anyone take notice. American Arsenal supporters spend 1000s of pounds to go to London for a weekend just to see their club and yet Adebayor has passed judgment on every American Arsenal supporter.

The man is a fucking disgrace and I get sick to my stomach when I think of him having ever worn the Arsenal shirt. The fact of the matter is that Arsenal is about pride and integrity and Adebayor has neither of those qualities. He has always been out for himself. Even American Arsenal supporters can see that.

The man is so self-centered that he whines about people not singing his name and tried to blame his lacklustre performances on a lack of adulation. As if the new, £80k/wk contract was not enough motivation. Adebayor is exactly the kind of person who will end up on a reality television show when his career is over.

Why he is so fixated on where people are born is beyond me. He wants to be praised because he happened to be born in Africa. He thinks Bendtner had it easy because he happened to be born in Denmark. And he thinks supporters who happened to be born in America are not “not fans.”

Here’s another treat:

If you boo your player every weekend, I am very sorry, you are not true fans.

Let me apply the same logic… If you don’t play your heart out for the club every weekend, I am very sorry, you are not a true Gunner.

Then he says that:

Arsenal forced me out. Arsene told me: ‘You have to leave because financially we are very bad.’

I have to say that I find this highly unlikely. It is a lie to try to get the City fans to actually believe he went to City for something other than the double-sized check. Even City fans aren’t that ignorant and if I was them I would be insulted at Adebayor thinking they are. He is trying to play them the same way he tried to play Arsenal fans claiming that he never wanted to leave Arsenal after his summer disappearing act.

If Arsenal were “financially very bad” why wouldn’t we have sold him after 2007-08 when he had actually played well and we had interest from Barcelona and Milan with figures quoted that were significantly higher than what we eventually got from City?

He then goes on to say how “People in my country love me. I represent my country very well.” Was he representing his country well when he was holding out and refusing to play for them over a payment dispute?

The problem with Adebayor is that he thinks he is smarter than everyone else and that they actually believe his ridiculous stories and excuses. You also have to seriously question someone that talks about themselves in the third person. Should Adebayor be booed when City comes to the Emirates? Of course, of course… No Arsenal supporter, no matter where they are from, should let Adebayor get away with insulting fellow Gooners like this. im a yid and i agree with that complelty, in the modern game there is alot of disrespect and jelousey form players who think they are far better than what they really are, take david bently for example, i would like to see Adebayor, given a couple of match ban for pure disrespect not only to his former club but fans all over the world

Great article, however still dont believe we should have sold him. Still a quality player we will be weaker wihtout him until Niklas possible steps up. Again I agree entirely and as an Australian Gooner who has forked out 5 years of membership +around 500 quid to go to games when in the UK his comments are insulting and uneducated. BUT to demand the kind of absolute integrity of modern footballers is a little unrealistic. Henry fucked us around for 2 season before eventaully leaving (although he earned it). Clichy is only staying put because as quoted was scared he wouldnt get a guaranteed spot/ adjust to Real. V Persie is only happy when he gets a pay rise and when Wenger shells out on players like Arshavin… I could go on forever, all the players are human and not autonamous drones loyal to the badge, an objective non-empassioned look at Ade is the only way to pass fair judgment

Martin, my problem has always been more with his on-the-pitch problems than off. I was more than willing to overlook the whole summer saga last season but we wanted to see that he wanted to be here. Instead we got an inconsistent season in which his performance and work rate slagged considerably from the year before. So I’m not so concerned with his “integrity” as his questioning Arsenal supporters’ integrity. We supported him for years and now he tries to make us look bad by saying we booed him every week… that is just not true. He was cheered many times last season. If it was only half as much as 2007-08 well that’s because only scored half as many goals.

    “financially we are very bad”???
So, why Forbes doesn’t think so? Look here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1211283/Arsenal-No-7-worlds-richest-clubs-list.html?ITO=1490 and here: http://www.forbes.com/lists/2009/34/soccer-values-09_Soccer-Team-Valuations_Rank.html

This guy is a fuckin’ idiot! I hope that tomorrow Bendtner scores a brace in front of him.

The very error was to buy him from Monaco.

“Adebaywhore, Adebayowhooooore: give him a million more, and he will come”!

    Come on Arsenal!!

    | I Am Gooner! |

But I must say Adebayor has got a point, there are times that Nicklas, goes about as if he is God’s gift especially on the pitch when he does misses chances or gives the ball away. I also agree with the point Adebayor shouldn’t have reacted in that manner.
But rules are rules… anyone that thinks they is bigger than the club don’t deserve my respect.
Although I have lost the respect for Adebayor likewise… I Couldn’t care for him anymore. He is not an Arsenal player… we are bigger than one player.

    KEEP IT GOONISH!

I hope Nik scores a hattrick, volleying each one in at 70mph of AdeBarnDoor’s ugly f$ckin face. Then for Ade to have a crack at Nik, and for Nik to knock him out on live tv.

That’ll get a cheer in Togo

You really went overboard trying to deface Adeboy. But I guess that’s what the readers here enjoy.
    Good quotes tho.

    • ArsenalStation

      September 11, 2009 at 10:27 pm

How am I defacing him? I used all his own quotes. He defaced himself. Not to mention that he defaced me as an American Arsenal supporter.

    • Xabier

      September 11, 2009 at 11:49 pm

What the hell are talking about. Elaborating Ade’s own words does not equate to defacing him!

  8. Sauga

    September 11, 2009 at 11:24 pm

I’m a Canadian City supporter so ya I think Adeboy is kind of an idiot. Not disagreeing the the notion of what you say, but you went overboard.

You implied that Adeboy criticized Nik for having an easy route because he came from Denmark and not poor Togo. When he could have just meant that Nik was an arrogant punk (only) for purposefully breaking a rule. Easy route meaning he can break rules and not care, albeit a silly rule.

Then you say City fans shouldn’t believe Adeboy came for any other reason than the doubled paycheck. But like you said earlier in this same column, the move also guarantees him first-time football. To me, I think money and caps are 2 big factors in signing a contract.

Also the whole Togo/bonus thing. It was a while ago, but didn’t the whole Togo team threaten to pull-out and it was Adeboy that became a middleman to try to solve the problem?

    • ArsenalStation

      September 12, 2009 at 12:04 am

Read the quote Sauga. “Nicklas had a very easy route [into football]. He had the chance to be in the Arsenal Academy, the chance to be an international for Denmark. Football doesn’t stop there. You are young, you have to learn. No matter what quality you have, you have to listen to people, let people help you to be good.”

He sounds absolutely bitter. When you couple that with his criticizing supporters just because they happen to be from America you can see that he has some kind of geographical bent for whatever reason. To be honest, it’s the remark about us American supporters that I found the most disgusting. I hope City doesn’t have any American supporters… though I don’t think that’s anything to worry about.

As for the money… Do you really think that if City offered him the same wages as Milan that he would’ve chosen City? And Adebayor was not the middleman in the Togo situation… he was the main instigator.

    September 11, 2009 at 11:38 pm

Let’s not exaggerate the Ade/Nik on-field incident. Okay, it didn’t reflect very well on either of them but it’s hardly the first time team mates have argued and fought on the pitch and it’s better than players who don’t give a crap.

The problem with Adebayor is that he’s erratic, prone to laziness, was a divisive presence in the squad, and has got a big mouth that doesn’t always engage with his brain before it opens.

He’s got something to prove this season and I think he’ll have a good one for City as long as things are going well. But when the chips are down City shouldn’t expect him to dig deep and fight for them. Rather, he’ll be engineering his exit. Most of the City fans I’ve spoken to know this.

    • ArsenalStation

      September 12, 2009 at 12:05 am

Not overexaggerate a player assaulting his own teammate ON THE PITCH with a headbutt that drew blood? Come on. When was the last time you saw something like that? To be honest, in retrospect, I can’t believe more wasn’t made of it at the time. That was the beginning of Adebayor’s downfall at Arsenal. The rest of your characterization of him is absolutely spot on.

For this tool, after all he’s done, to question me and my fellow American Gooners’ integrity as supporters, people who have followed the club loyally for years before he arrived and put in more effort off the pitch then he put in on it, is just beyond belief.

      • looneygooner

        September 12, 2009 at 7:31 am

it wasn’t a headbutt but a push into the face with his hand, don’t twist things, Adebayor is no longer an Arsenal player, get over it, move on and concentrate on the players who want to play for Arsenal.
Some fans waste too much time in slagging off ex-players, spend the time on the current team it’s better for us in the long run

  10. Brett

    September 12, 2009 at 12:21 am

Had no idea that the most hated ex-Gunner since Cashley Cole would cause so many seeming rifts, but I think the issue is that some people have issues with Bendtner for some unknown reason.

Here’s the issue, fellow Gooners: both Bendtner and Ade went through stretches of extremely poor form last season, rankling some of the fans who are, shall we say, easier to upset. The difference is that where Ade continued strolling about like he was just cashing a paycheck, Nik pulled up his socks and worked that much harder. People will get on Bendtner because he missed a header away to United in the Champions League semifinal. Ade didn’t miss a header. You know why? Because he didn’t do a GOD DAMNED THING in either of those matches. He played with neither heart nor spirit, and that is unacceptable.

As for taking the author to task for “elaborating” Adebayor’s own quotes? I find that hard to believe. Everything out of the man’s mouth for an entire year has been at different times irritating, false or self-promoting, and at times all three at once. He is unworthy of ever having worn the shirt, and I’ll argue that to the very end with any supporter, be he from England, Africa, the Americas or anywhere else. I’m glad to see the back of him, and I’ll be gladder still to see him on that back when Vermaelen plants him there a few times tomorrow. I’m supporting Arsenal tomorrow, not Adebayor. Although according to Ade, I could be supporting Liverpool or United tomorrow. The prick.

    Adebugger has always been a greedy,two-faced,puerile,selfish,arrogant fool。
Like many others before him, with similar traits(Cashley,Bentley,Hleb),who started from nowhere, given great opportunity by Arsenal FC and Wenger, were so pathetically small minded to need to continue slagging off theTeam and it’s supporters after being “offloaded”。
I have supported The Arsenal for 45 years,my father before me ,my son after me,and I am disgusted by the lack of real respect shown by these “individuals” to us,the genuine supporters.
It’s only a matter of time before Mr.Adebugger will show the same attitude to our fellow “Fans” at City。

Ade would appear to have selected memory loss, it was not long ago there were grumbles in the crowd about Nik’s work rate. However instead of grumbling he took the criticism, put more effort in and reaped the rewards in his football and the support of the crowd.

Also, when someone knows they are in he wrong, they just try too hard to convince people that they are right. He cannot stop trying to defend himself- the man doth protest too much!

At the end of the day, Adebayor is just not very intelligent. This is not an attempt to insult him. It just appears to be a fact.

Good luck to City with him, I’ve wasted enough time supporting him when he was an Arsenal player to listen to anything he has got to say now. The man is an idiot.

    September 12, 2009 at 4:06 am

I think that when Adebayor talks about loyalty and integrity in football we should all sit up and take notice. After all Adebayor’s significant contribution to world football has been to go on strike for Metz over money, go on strike for his national team over money, headbutt his own team mate (a 19 year old at the time) and hold Arsenal to ransom after his first decent goal scoring season. The guy is up there with Pele as one of the great ambassadors of the game.

Good interview though. Fully expect it to be pinned to the away team dressing room door today at Eastlands. It should inspire a Bendtner double and for Tommy V and Billy G to tear Adebayor a new arsehole to talk to the press through after the game.

That is insulting the integrity of Arsenal supporters. But of course you wouldn’t know that because you didn’t actually read the article and just started commenting calling people racists, you idiot. It has nothing to do with him being from Togo or just for leaving. We are all about to welcome Kolo Toure back, a black man from Africa that has left us for Man City.
